Why would smokey not start him?

He's trying to find new ways to alienate the fans.

that irkes me to high heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the best pitcher in the mlb in a pennant race and he give him the day off? Would any other manager do this in this situation? Sparky would not

only God knows.
maybe it helps, but you think he wants him in there against the team closest to them when possible.

Jv's schedule was made out a a few weeks ago, starting at the final game of the season, and working backwards to make sure he started as many as possible.

They got him facing Cleveland 3 out of the 4 series.

KalineCountry[/color]]Verlander 45 straight starts of 100 or more pitches,

and tonight Tigers are 5 for 9 with risp.

And finally I'm not complaining much for a night. LOL

2 scratch singles to start the 8th,

mauer gets 2 strikes painted at the knees, and a curve swings and misses,

moroneau shits,

shut out gone, and leyland takes him out,

Tigers 7 - 1,

Verlander 121 pitches, 7 2/3 innings, 1 run plus two on base, 7 hits, 1 walk, 8 strikeouts,
