Tigers vs. whitesox Game Thread September 12

Danks has no location today whatsoever....everything right down the middle. i like it!

Tigers are turning into the Yanks, Rangers and Sox before our eyes.. They are mashing the ball as a team and they have horrible 4th and 5th starting pitching like those teams..

Bad thing is all these runs are doing is extending Porcello's leash.

I feel bad for ripping on him too, but it's obvious he does not have good stuff, get him out before he blows up.

Nice swing from Inge.. That would have been a gapper in Copa, but thanks to this joke bandbox, De Aza gets to it..

Tigers 3rd inning,

Young grounds a low cutter foul, swings and misses, golfs a fly to shallow left drops in front of pierre for a single,

Cabrera takes a cutter inside strike call, on/off the corner is drilled to right drops in for a ground rule double Young has to stop at third,
That was Cabrera's 40th double for the season,

Martinez takes a changeup strike, fastball low, again, changeup grounds it foul, swings and misses belt high,

Avila takes a high strike, fastball inside backs him up, slow grounder to second and Young scores Cabrera to third,

Tigers lead 4 - 2,

Peralta swings and misses a fastball, fastball inside corner strike call, fastball lined past short for an rbi single and Cabrera scores,

Tigers lead 5 - 2,

Raburn takes a fastball outside, fastball lined to right for a single Peralts stops at second,

Inge takes a cutter inside, half swing strike sigh, driven to left center but caught,

danks with 59 pitches,

Tigers lead 5 - 2.

You may feel bad, but you are correct.. He is a gascan waiting to napalm along with Penny..

He has to throw more strikes, below 50% so far.
He either settles down the next 2 innings, keeps them from scoring, or he just gets barely to the 5th, looking more and more like JV, Fister, and Scherzer. Porcello and Penny no.

This start is a microcosm to his season.. 1st 2 innings he looks awful and in the 3rd he has a relatively easy time getting outs and is locating his breaking balls. Totally inconsistent.. One day he looks like the second coming of Maddux and the next he looks like Mike Maroth..

Porcello 3rd inning,

cuban popgunramirez grounds to Peralta,

konerko fastball fouled back, fastball inside, grounder deep behind the bag at third Inge backhands and throws him out by 20 feet maybe as slow as Magglio,

FFpierzynski fastball high, again, strike call, fastball fouled down left, broken bat grounder to Raburn,

Porcello with 56 pitches,

Tigers lead 5 - 2.

Maybe Rick can settle down and at least go 5.

The thing is, we have a loaded bullpen that's been doing very little work lately.

I'd rather pull Ricky at the next sign of trouble than try to squeeze 5 innings out of him.

It looked so bad the first 2 innings, now he has a great 3rd and could possibly go 6th..

I remember weeks ago when we were doing predictions on what it would take to get to 85 wins for each contender because that was likely what would win the Central, that seems like such a long time ago. Going for our 85th tonight!
