Tigers vs. yankees ALCS Game Thread 4 Oct. 17

At 9:11, just over an hour after scheduled first pitch, rain has begun at Comerica.

Game 4 will be played on Thursday at 4:07 pm. Tickets for Tigers home Game #2 of the ALCS will be honored for tomorrow's game.

Tigers lead MLB in games rained out this season with 5 (includes today).

The rainout favors the Tigers. It gives the Yankees another night to stew, and for the Tigers, they will now have Phil Coke well rested.

Yankees P CC Sabathia had a 4.00 ERA in 9 daytime starts in regular season, 3.09 in 19 night starts.

Yankees seemed fine with decision to postpone game. Concerned about mid-game delay that could have knocked CC out of game.

Scherzer: We had no idea. I mean, it's rain. They kept saying it was going to come and it never came. So go figure.

Scherzer: I like pitching so I would have played at 1 a.m. I don't care. Whenever they want to give me the ball, that's great.

Coke: I was ready to pitch today. I told him he knew where to find me.

Presumably, this makes Phil Coke available to pitch in Game 4. Coke: "I was available in my own mind anyway."

Coke: If (fans) want to be here, they'll be here. I'm sure the bosses will be all right with calling in sick. I would be.

Coke: If you're going to play a game, you want to play a game. You don't want it to be possibly tainted by a possible 5 & dive.

Cashman says Sabathia will not pitch Game 7.

I think this works out in our favor. Everybody gets extra rest. JV will be on normal rest for a game 7. CC will have the same amount of rest he would have otherwise since he hasn't made a start yet. This is good.

looks to be the right call...too bad for the fans that made the trip but better the game be finished all at once. It's to the benefit of both clubs.

Heavier rain now at Comerica Park. Maybe could've gotten in five innings, but not much chance at nine.

This postponement pisses me off...

Had the kids out of the house tonight but tomorrow they'll be home and interrupting us every 5 minutes.

Should've started the game...who gives a fuck if they waste CC...JV got wasted TWICE last year. Just more MLB/NY bias....fuck them both...

It could just be that MLB realized what a fiasco the rain delays were from JV's situation that they decided they would correct that mistake this time.

Read that if it did go 7, CC would not be able to go that night.
