Tigers vs. yankees Game Thread June 1

One observation from tonight's game. For all the complaining done about the offense the PITCHING sure sucks at times, too. Our pitchers need to learn how to finish off batters and FINISH OFF FUCKING INNINGS. It is disgusting how many two-out runs have been given up this game and in the Boston series. And much of it stems from they need to learn to throw a fricking breaking ball. At least 6 of the Yankees runs came in this fashion today. One pitch away from being out of the inning Crosby grooves a fastball in Grandy's wheelhouse WHAM...grand slam. 2 outs in the 9th, Dotel has two strikes on A-Rod and proceeds to hang a slider WHAM 2-run homer game basically out of reach. It's pitching 101 and it's all a lack of substance between the ears. If you're going to go down and in to a lefty you'd better bring it WAY in...and you don't throw sliders IN the strikes zone, you start it in the strike zone and break it out to get him fishing. Hell they've been watching pitchers do the same damn thing to our hitters all year and they light doesn't go on "Gee maybe THAT'S how you do it...?" We need some pitchers with some damn intelligence...

Our 0-2, and 1-2 pitching approach has been terrible for years. This year it is really maddening. Plus do we ever teach holding runners on anymore?

Yes it seems like they are terrible holding runners at times....yet they're 2nd in the majors with 8 pick-offs, so go figure...

But the 2-strike hits just can not happen with this amount of frequency. Leyland talks about holding people "accountable"...when is he going to start holding his coaches accountable? Of course there's only so much a coach can do if a player is stone stupid and can't or won't learn.

Plus I apologize for all the typos in my last post. When I type mad all concentration goes out the window.

Also the sortable stats and splits on MLB.com are awesome.

So yeah I looked it up...opponents are batting .253 with two-outs against us. That's good for 23rd in the majors.

And for some perspective...that's one slot WORSE than the Twins staff. As Ernest P. Worrel would have said -eeeeeeeeeeeee-yeeeeeeewwwwwwwww...

As for the apparent lack of smarts thing, maybe so from time to time, mental lapses? inability to stay locked in?.. I find this stuff like this help me think, it's all in the head, part mental, part physical, they should try it. It's the music, the music, it's that damn noise they listen to@! it's all wrong! THIS LOL
