Tiger's @ Yanks April 29th

Probably Scherzers last inning unless he gets them out quick.

Discipline was never his problem.

Jacksons plate discipline numbers are pretty much the same this year as they were last year.

I would be shocked if you're correct. If it wasn't plate discipline then what?

Pitch recognition. He sees a lot of pitches overall, but he takes a lot of strikes and swings at a lot of balls. Thats why is strikeout totals are so high.

edit: or at least, he had more problems with pitch recognition earlier. dunno about this year. i just remember seeing him taking a LOT of strikes and then swinging and missing at stuff he should be taking.

As per Pitch F/X...

Jackson is swinging at 26.6% of pitches out of the zone this year, last year he only swung at 26.7%.

His zone swing percentage is 59.9% this year, last year it was 60.8%.

whats league average for swinging at out-of-zone pitches?

another goddamn infield single in the right spot. this must be karmic punishment for Young.

How many INF hits has Max given up the last two games?

I think it's around 7 or 8.

Just absolutely horrible luck.

Ouch, rookie in first MLB appearance to face Grandy with the bases juiced.

Welcome to the show meat.

I am not one to look up numbers like that but I am surprised. I can tell you that he looks much better and has taken a lot of close pitches with 2 strikes to work counts. He should have walked today and was rung up on a crap call.

So max should have left the game tied 1-1 right?

yup. had it happened to the yankees, girardi would have been thrown out in the 2nd and the ump would be found dead in an alley after the game with a single gunshot to the back of the head execution style.

with us? nothing. just 2 free runs for the yankees.
