Trade Rumors Castellanos to Cubs, Greene to Braves - signs with the Reds now Phillies

The Nats are seeking a controllable reliever at the Deadline. Among the relievers they?ve checked in on: Tigers? RHP Shane Greene, Giants? RHP Sam Dyson and Royals? LHP Jake Diekman.

Tigers are believed to have asked for Nationals top prospect Carter Kieboom in a Shane Greene trade.

Maybe if they offer Greene, Boyd AND Nick lol

Compared to the last few years the traded players, Avila heard all the negative press for "settling for pennies on the dollar" and is now asking for the top prospects for the Tigers they plan to trade. Will he get good deals for the top 3? Remains to be seen,

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in CI & AA's offices this time of year, LOL.

CI: "So are you sure there is no way we can dump Miggy?"

AA: "nope. We are stuck with him. Get used to shelling out about $33M a year for 4 more years"

CI: "Damn you, Dad"

While I?m glad the Tigers want a good return, I worry how realistic their expectations are. These teams aren?t going to budge if they aren?t desperate (and the Tigers only really have decent role players to offer, nothing exceptional).

I just have a feeling the Tigers end up empty handed if they?re stubborn, but I also don?t want to see Avila panic and make a shitty deal just to get something in return at the 11th hour. While I have zero faith in their prospect development I hope they can get some high upside guys who are a few years away because this team isn?t going to compete for a while...trying hard to get near-MLB ready prospects seems like a waste.

Matthew Boyd, trade chip? Tigers ace should be foundation piece.

Foundation for what? A foundation for a last place team for the next 6+ years?

Trade players when you can get something for them, that's how you build. We made a mistake of thinking Fulmer was going to be a foundation for something, we could have gotten a mint for him during his All Star year with his rookie contract still intact, now he's rehabbing indefinitely.

The Tigers aren't going to be competitive in the near future. If they keep Boyd, there's basically about a 5% chance he'll ever be part of a rotation here when we're competing again.

And since the Giants prolly wont part with Bumgarner now, Boyd's price just went up.

You can't trade everyone just because they're having a good year. He was 24.

Brewers lost a starter for 6-8 weeks, they could be in the hunt for Boyd, and they have a good farm system.

Personally, I'd love to somehow pry Kyle Tucker away from the Stros. Even if we had to include a lower level(NOT Mize/Manning/Faedo...) pitching prospect along with Boyd. He is the kind of impact bat we can build around.

Well Boyd has to actually help the team and himself out by actually not sucking again tonight.

I would give them Boyd, Greene and Nick for Tucker. Maybe see if they can get Seth Beer thrown in too. Fits a need and I would definitely buy his jersey

160 K's to 24 BB. That in itself should get something nice in return, a top guy even. That and 3 more years of control far outweigh an ERA that has been climbing on a bad team. Basically saying what Smoltz reiterated.
