Training Camp MEGA thread

who exactly is the #1 CB?

Average in most of your made up categories but there is no denying that the Lions pass defense was towards the bottom of the league. I don't expect that to change this year.

Slay. Like Sherman year 2.

No one knows but at least he is healthy...for now.

Waddle starting at RT today.

Don't even start with them LKP. It's not worth it.

I just picked one of your points to pick on. Designating "strong and free safety?" What does it matter what you call them or where you put them on the field if they suck?

They don't suck. Ihedibo fits strong very well and Quin fits free well. And it matters because it's not just the name, it's how you use them. It didn't matter under Schwartz, they were just left and right. It is a change. You said there were no changes. I listed like 10 changes.

And Quin, Mathis, Bentley and Slay didn't need to be swapped out.

Slay. Like Sherman year 2.

In your dream world...but he will likely be just an average to slightly below average CB....just like most 2nd year CBs.

Just looked at Sherman's first year and compared to Slay.

Sherman had 55 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 4 INTs 17 passes defended
Slay had 34 tackles, 0 FF and 0 INTs, 5 passes defended.

Sherman 2nd season he had 64 tackles, 3 FF, 8 INTs, 24 PD and a TD

I would be surprised if Slay is as good in year 3 as Sherman was in his rookie year!

I really hope Waddle wins the job.

I imagine he will. An undrafted rookie took the spot of a career back up and never gave it up. New staff just doing their due diligence by trying to find weaknesses in each of their games so to better fit the offense.

And a lot of those changes are schemes, coaches, etc... I want more talent in this secondary. The Lions had a chance in the draft to address it. They didn't.

they didn't need more talent in the secondary...they needed a 3rd TE!

Te/slot wr matchup nightmare

Plenty of talent in this secondary. All starters set

Don't think it's hard to predict tom that any CB in the league will not be as good as, arguably, the best CB in the league.

Sherman was to the Seahawks defense what Brady was to the Pats offense... that extremely rare late round gem that dominated early and ascended to the top player in his position.

It's doubtful any round one CB will be as good by year three as Sherman was in his rookie season.

According to LKP that's why Caldwell got fired in the first place. He didn't go to Dan O fast enough!
