Youre the GM

I do think the Lions are the better team for all 16 games. Just shot themselves in the foot.

I'm taking 3/4 or 1/2 of a season. Not random arbitrary dates. Steelers, Giants and Bucs started like shit, then they got a lot better.

I know this is hard for you to believe, but teams can change how they play from the first 4 games. Or even from the first 9, to the last 7. Or even on a game to game basis.

exactly. The Lions were a pretty good team the first 9 games and were one of the worst teams in the NFL over the last 7. I'm glad you can see that now.

Didn't play them. But Detroit could have beat them. Did in 2012 with Seattle.

We'll find out in next years playoffs.

could have but most likely wouldn't have. Those two teams are both SIGNIFICANTLY better than the Lions.

I disagree. Lions have just as much talent as both. Some areas they may be stronger, but there are some areas the Loins are stronger too.

There is no area on defense where the Lions have as much talent as the 49ers or Seattle. Both the 49ers and Seattle have better special teams. The 49ers and Seattle have better running games. The 49ers and Seattle have more effective play out of the QB position. The only place where where the Lions have more talent is at the #1 WR position as Calvin is better than any WR on Seattle or SF.

Defensive line and LB.

SF has a far superior front 7 than Detroit and it isn't even close. They might have a better front 4 than Seattle.

Suh,Fairley,Ansah, Willie Young, Taylor and Mosely match the 49ers front 4. Tulloch and Levy had great years. Lions front 7=San Fran front 7.

How does Detroit have better LBs than San Francisco??? Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman are perennial All-Pros! Neither Levy or Tulloch have even been selected for the Pro Bowl.

The 49ers play a 3-4 so it is hard to compare the Lions front 4 to the 49ers front 3. I don't think the Lions have a LB that would start for the 49ers. The 49ers front 7 is the best in the game.

Levy had a great year. Tulloch matched what Bowman and Willis did. Tulloch is so underrated it's not even funny.

Even if you think they have as much talent as Seattle and San Franciso (which I think is delusional), talent doesn't win you games. Players with talent need to use it. They have to be smart on the field. You need good coaching. There are many things other than talent that are important. If the Lions are as good as Seattle or San Francisco then the Lions should be in the NFC Championship game. That's the bottom line. Teams are graded based on results, not how much talent they acquire.

Levy did have a very solid year. And I like Tulloch. But that doesn't mean I think either of them is at the level of Willis and Bowman! Willis has earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors every year he's been in the league!!! That's not a fluke. And Bowman has been All-Pro the last 2 years. Neither Levy or Tulloch can match that. Both were solid players this year, but neither compares to Willis and Bowman.

Pro bowl is like mlb all-star game, it means little. It's those all-pros and their guys get in, our LB don't.

You could have 3 levys and 3 Tulloch and I'd still take Willis and Bowman.

Talent does win you most of your gams. Turnovers from talented players can screw that if you are not careful. And it did the past 2 seasons for Detroit. We'll see if the new coaching can stop the turnovers and get one more big play out of the talented defense late in games.

And Tulloch does the job of 2 men (Bowman/Willis). Very comparable.

Well, then we must not have as much talent as you'd like to think since the Lions were 7-9. Consistently turning the ball over 2 seasons in a row is a huge problem, but it's not the only thing that contributed to our 2 poor seasons.
