#16 Michigan @ #7 Penn State

Again why did guys sit in the bowl game if this was the case ? I am all for playing the guys who earned it. Nothing wrong with getting guys experience for next year.
You guys act like I am saying replace all 11 at once lol.

Guys sit in the bowl game, because they sat to for injury reasons or to avoid injury for the draft. The coach didn't choose to sit them.

No, you just roundaboutly suggested replacing the ones that are leaving and to leave the ones that are coming back in place. You didn't state it specifically, but again, why stop at the QB position?

The only thing wrong with getting guys experience for next season is if you sacrifice wins and losses or upset players that earned that PT. Talk about a quick way for the coach to lose a locker room, upset the seniors that have devoted 4 or 5 years of their lives to the team.

So with Patterson gone next season will Jim go after another transfer qb or does any of the younger qb?s get a chance at running Michigan?s offense. Because Jim?s Inability to Develop a QB has cost Michigan dearly. Will he go with one on the roster this time ?

I highly doubt we see any more transfer QB's.

This is good.

I know who to root for now; I will send positive psychic energy vibes to East Lansing this weekend, and Madison, WI (to prepare them for the game in Columbus).

If State can beat Penn State and Wisconsin can beat Ohio State, I like our odds from here on out a lot better.

No matter how good their defense plays, State has to find a way to generate SOME offense though... to keep PSU's offense off the field and give their defense a rest.

Can't we just root for Minnesota to beat Penn State instead of MSU?

If JH brings in his fourth transfer in six years, I'll personally escort McCaffery and Milton to the transfer portal.

Minnesota is not in division. It won't count in the tie breaker unless of course it's a 3rd loss overall in the conference. Not a possibility in my opinion unless they had a total collapse.

Michigan is a program that needs to always control its own destiny.

Yes, let's bench all seniors. That would be a great sound strategy for programs to do around the country.

I agree with you, Byco.

How about bench everyone for whatever the bowl game is, and bring all the verbal commits in from their high schools?

They?ll all be on winter break anyway.

And do it every season.

Keep building for the future.

And if they don't play well, cut them loose. #lifelessons

Again there is not thing wrong with getting back ups playing time. Now especially since This seasons goals are done. There will be no big ten title. No trip to Indy , and no college football playoff. But I would like next years qb to come in with more then a few passes under his belt. You guys act like I want to change every position in mass. I don?t. Patterson finally after 7 damn games looked above average for 3 quarters. I?m sure he is better then the other two guys or we would have seen them. But this team was sold to us as a national title contending team, and it wasn?t even close. I just want next years guys to be ready to play unlike this years guy. What is wrong with that?

Great we get to root for another team (Minnesota) To get to The big ten title game before Michigan. Man this is has been a fun 5 years under Harbaugh:/
Please note the sarcasm.

Would PJ come back to coach at either MSU or Michigan ?

Time to throw in the towel, Bob. Admit when you're wrong. It's far too early and makes no sense to give up on team # whatever it is. The kids are playing for themselves, each other, the coaches and for UM. Not for you and not for fans in general.

There is ND, MSU, and OSU. I think that it's a program "goal" to beat all three of these opponents.

Only that it communicates to the entire team that the season is forsaken, but they still want to win, too? It's convoluted. Let's next year take care of itself. There is still something to play for this year.

I never asked them to play for me . What am I wrong about ? Wanting to get younger guys ready for next year so we can make a run at a big ten title and beyond. Last I checked nothing is wrong with that period.

The logic is there for you to see but it fails to make any impression. Never mind.

that's not on Patterson - he had a rough start but you lost a ton of defensive talent, WRs have also underperformed, Charbonet isn't a great tailback. Benching Patterson would be nuts.

Additionally, besides wanting to win now, with a good deal of things still to play for - if what you say is true, that guys just weren't ready this year, what are the odds that next year's guys will be more ready than the experienced players who came back this year? If it's not all on Patterson, which it clearly is not, you could be throwing away games this year and be no better off next year.

go time has applauded M basketball and I as I recall M baseball too. Don?t know his problem with M football and Harbaugh and care about it less than zero. Give credit where credit is due on the other sports.

I worked a fund raiser in Sherman Oaks, home to a lot of movie people.

Literally, as I was driving home I thought of a discussion of movies on the board, and I thought of you, and I thought to myself I would say to anybody ?I am a cinafile ? but I am a piker next to Byco.?

Big Michigan games, win or a loss, bring me home to my memories of Ann Arbor, not unlike the Kenny Loggins song ?Celebrate Me Home.?

In 1984, just before I left Ann Arbor to move to Hollywood, I was invited by the director of One Flew Over the Cuckoo?s Nest, a production to be done at the fledging Performance Network, to play the role of R.P. McMurphy.

It was to be an eight week, four a show on week run.

It was the best time of my life - all the live theater fan girls had the hots for me, and the Tigers started out 35-5.

The show turned out to be a huge critical and box success and launched the Performance Network from being about to close to the next 30 years of its existence.

So thanks for reminding me of that Ann Arbor memory with your reference to Martini.

And for what it?s worth, the guy who played Cheswick, Christopher Flynn, had a lot of praise for me about working on the same stage.

A student of his had left Michigan and had gone to New York on his advice, to pursue professional performance directly.

He didn?t didn?t give me the same advice though;

but I had already graduated and was heading to Hollywood.

Her name was Madonna Ciccone.

Heh ? you're welcome.

"Hotel, Hotel."

1984 was a memorable year for me, too. I was directing a live PBS nightly-news show for the Tucson affiliate. Three cameras (one locked down) two 1" VTRs an 8-track cart machine for pre-packaged audio segues, a crew of seven. I thought I was hot stuff.

Oh, and my first son was born, too. There's that. Yesterday, he, his wife and one-year-old daughter came over for a visit.

I don't think customers paying to go to games want to watch a bunch of back-ups and a team and coach not trying to win. It's ridiculous. Harbaugh is going to play the best guys and try to win every game, as he should. Getting lesser players PT might mean losing a game that they might've won otherwise. That is not a good strategy in my opinion. They aren't going to tank the season, because their big 10 title hopes are seemingly gone.

Yes. Everyone thought this team should be better. "It's year 5!!! This team should be on the level of Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson by now!!!" Well, it isn't. We can continue to cry about that or we can get over it and accept it. This program is not a top 5 program right now. Maybe it should be, but it is not. Michigan just cannot win games, because it's Michigan right now and it can't recruit by walking into living rooms and saying, "Come play for us, because it's Michigan." Other teams around the country that were good for years are having similar problems. I know, that doesn't make it feel any better. The program is a top 25 program and Harbaugh will continue to try to improve that.

They might even drop out of the top 25, but I think it is silly for the 16 team to go to the 7 team's stadium and play them like they did and then drop in the rankings. Why does the 16 team get penalized for losing at the 7 team? The ranking system is flawed, obviously.

I was only going to root for Mn if it could help Michigan, but I guess it might not. I have no desire to replace Harbaugh with Fleck. Maybe some others do. I don't know. Fleck seems like Hoke 2.0 to me with no past Michigan pedigree. I know others don't feel that is important, but some do.

Whatever agree to disagree.

Nothing wrong with getting younger players ready for next year. Nothing at all. Did I say change all 11 ? No I didn?t but I would like to see what the other 2 qb?s Could do. Do not worry Finally Patterson played good, and his wr?s let him down. I would just like to see SOME of the younger kids play because those are the ones that will be winning Michigan a possible Big ten title in the future.

Unless it's detrimental to this year's team and the program overall. But other than that...

You just can't get it, can you?

Get what? How I?m tired of Michigan losing ? We were sold a bill of goods this year. They are 5-2 out of the big ten race and all of you guys think it?s all Sunshine lollipops and roses. If any other coach had had 5 years like this they would be calling for his head. We all should have known having a 4th oc in four years would be a issue. I get it just fine but what is wrong with getting younger players a bigger role ? What is wrong with getting them more experience? Maybe some of them are better? It?s my opinion some younger players should play. Let?s see what we have?
