2014 Mock Draft Thread

I wasn't serious but if he fell to five, if I was Mayhew I would toss that 2 in a 4.5 seconds (Clowney's 40 this weekend) to get him. I think the Raiders would want more than that because they would want to take him themselves. Clowney gets taken at #1 with Houston anyways.

id trade up to 5 for clowney or Watkins. The rest you let fall to us.

Give up a big pick, 2nd maybe? Can't speak for a DE but I wouldn't trade up for a WR. Not a chance.

but Stafford needs a difference maker at WR other than calvin, reggie, Pettigrew, Burleson, joique, great oline, completely new coaching staff, qb guru.....remember?! So give him what he needs so we can stop with the excuses already and drop his ass when his contract is up if he doesn't improve.

Giving up 10, 3rd and 4th can get you Watkins if he is there at 6. You still have free agency and Round 2 for a CB/S. Plus a 4th round comp pick.

If there was assurance Watkins is Jerry Rice and assurance that Stafford could compete those passes. Our biggest problems are stopping a team in the fourth quarter when we have the lead.

Everyone assumed Staff just needs more weapons, is Watkins going to turn him in the Joe Montana?

Better defense helps Staff as much as a WR. Maybe more..

Agreed on defense helping just as much as a better WR. Give him a D that gets him 30+ turnovers. Made Stafford's life alot easier in 2011. 34 turnovers=41 TDs from the guy.

He didn't magically forget how to play. Life just got harder for him in 2012 and 2013 with only 17 and 22 turnvoers forced, shitty game situations and his weapons kept getting hurt. 2011 WRs 1-3 and TE played all 16 games. Full set of weapons helped. Just like it did Chicago this year. Forte, Bennett, Marshall and Jeffery, none of them got hurt. Life was good for Cutler/McCown and it showed in the PPG for Chicago.

detroit can get a WR in the 2nd round. seems to be a deep WR and CB class

If we were a piece a way I'd be okay with trading up for a WR. But as far as positions go WR it's far down the list of importance. No one wins because of their wide receivers.

So who would you suggest we draft with the #10 pick of the draft? I'm fine with drafting Gilbert, who is a CB, but I'm not expecting him to be great his rookie year and not necessarily even his 2nd year. When I look at the guys who are top 10 talent this year and the Lions could potentially pick, I think Sammy Watkins would make the biggest difference in 2014 and beyond. Pairing him with Calvin Johnson would be amazing! Watkins has been compared to Percy Harvin, and Watkins is the best WR to come out since AJ Green and Julio Jones.

I can point to several games where our offense shit the bed MOST of the game. 13 points vs Minnesota is a recent reference if you need a reminder.

I won't have a problem if they take a WR at 10, I just don't want them trading up to grab one.

To quote LKP, 28 PPG should be enough to win games.

But we didn't score 28 points every game. Every loss but 1 we scored under 25. Several of them we were completely shut out entire halves.

I get that but on average we do. I'm telling you we don't have the luxury to trade up for a WR. And lose a second round pick.

That must mean we need to get stafford more weapons because we obviously havent been doing that. Lets draft a TE and 2 WR in the first 3 rounds for him, then maybe he will be good.

Trading up and losing any picks AT ALL is a bad idea. We need to build through the draft and get productive players from round 1 - 4 at least. We have to many holes to fill to be giving up any picks. Even if they think they are one or two players away from competing in the playoffs, I don't think Sammy Watkins alone could put us over that hump with the defense the way it is.

youre talking about a team with a GM that pissed away several picks for the likes of tahir whitehead and mike Thomas...youtube of mayhew below:

Raiola is the only second round pick still on our roster so with the likes of Mayhew giving up a 2 seems like a steal.

True. Like the Miggy trade, worth getting good rather than potential with a high chance to fail.
