2021 Free Agency and Cap Cuts

Lol 19 this year. 26 out of like 130 wrs so still around 9 percent

2020 was 9 percent. 9 percent is a fact

For every metcalf and golladay there is a shitty 2nd round pick

You guys always remember young and broyles. Surprised you guys conveniently forgot that

We know Golladay is good. We dont know some 2nd rounder is good. Especially as a rookie

We know golladay is injured and cant create seperation. We also know that a #2 like marvin Jones can put up similar numbers when hes out.

Golladay can be healthy for the new contract. And we know he is good. We will see what lions do

Tag and trade smartest move

Marvin also a number 1 wr. Great job quinn

It seems Saleh talks highly of Sam Darnold. "There’s a reason why Sam Darnold was the No. 3 pick in the draft."

So if they decide to stay with him and bypass picking a QB they could take someone that might have been on Detroit's radar or more leverage for our pick to look good for other teams who want a QB and trade back.

I don't mind Marvin so much but he's a slot guy that can go deep now and again. Not a true number one by definition.

Quinn was terrible at his job. One or two success stories out of 10. The Lions are much worse off than when he got here.

Plenty of success stories. Then Patricia wanted guys to kill the defense

Offense was super successful
Marvin Jones, Golladay, Decker, Ragnow, Swift, Jonah Jackson, Crosby to an extent, Agnew returns, Stafford extension. Lang was good but injured. Wagner good first 3 years then down 4th year (now good with Packers). Hock big success. All sorts of success but dealt with injuries (Marvin 2 years, Golladay this year, Lang to end his career).

Defense
Flowers, Hand are successes. Romeo Okwara a success, Harrison successful trade but then Patricia ruined him and Harrison is a weird dude too. Slay extension previously success and good trade at right time. AO and Okudah TBD but have shown flashes.
Walker was 2 year success then not this year with position change to box safety more
Harmon a nice trade
Collins solid add (but overpaid)
AShawn had some success. Glasgow had success and then got a new big deal with Denver

Patricia requested slow players plus injuries plus bad scheme that he never adjusted much. Like Trufant could have been a success but hamstring injury all year.

Quinn has some fails in Tabor, Davis (some scheme change and mental, plenty of size and speed), Tavai and Harris and Christian Jones

Nick Williams and Shelton were meh but didn't have the help at LB plus the Flowers injury plus they both dealth with injuries

Coleman and James fails based on contract size.

Quinn is better than you guys give him credit but he had to go with Patricia.

Lions signed kicker Matthew Wright to a futures deal. Prater a FA

when you are the GM, and have ultimate control over who is drafted, who is hired as a head coach, and who you sign as free agents. YOU are responsible for the results. The team has very little talent, only 5 draft picks, virtually no WRs on the roster, and coming off of 3 & 5 win seasons....Quinn was an absolute failure and a terrible GM.

He had many successes. Team didn't execute or got hurt or had bad coaching. He hired Patricia so he gets the boot, but he added talent. See list above with many hits. Nobody could stop Lang or Golladay or Marvin Jones or Kerryon from getting hurt. Walker and Wagner 2019 surprising regression. Plus other teams have plenty of talent too. NFL is tough but Quinn did good things for this team. There are building blocks to build from still. But personnel change happens every year and there might be more some more on the defensive side of the ball.

Contracts expire, there are disputes for how much a player thinks he is worth or not leading to no deal being done (Golladay, which given injury may or may not be good we didn't extend), players get injured out of anyones control, coaches or players don't do what they have done in the past. There are things beyond any GMs control. And you need to realize that when analyzing how someone did.

Yes bottom line they lost (with Quinn under Patricia not Caldwell BTW) but that could be more coaching and injury failure than anything.

Flowers, Vaitai, Trufant injuries that lingered too on the field. Like might as well not have had Free agents if they are all hurt. On top of the difference in contract value for Glasgow vs Vaitai (and run blocking ability). They didn't think Glasgow worth 11 per. They thought Vaitai worth 9 per and he got hurt. Things like that happen

What is your fascination with Hand? You constantly call him a good player. He had a solid rookie year.....and has been a complete failure the last 2 years. He's missed between 3-13 games each season in the league. His best season was 2 years ago where he had 22 tackles and 3 sacks. That's it.

Calling him a success is borderline insanity.

But, look who im talking to.......

Hand was above average this year through injuries. Hurt basically all of 2019. 15th out of 112 Interior defender in 2018. He is a solid starter and 4th round pick. Cheap contract. It's a success and would have been a bigger one if not for the injuries. He's got one year left to prove he can stay healthy and play like 2018 again. Let's see if the new Dline coach from Jax can get him producing again. Flowers and Hand can start and do well this year. Lions still need two DTs (after cutting Williams/Shelton) and two DEs (Okwara and Griffen a FA) to add though for rotation and depth. Can Julian Okwara or Austin Bryant stay healthy and play more too. One of them but could be the 3rd DE

NFL changed the weed policy. Cheap vet min wouldn't hurt at all. Has some talent and production

So now that we're in a long rebuild again we can't get any solid talent.

We still draft people (5 1sts in 3 years and a GM that could actually be good on day 2). Also you don't know that, you haven't seen what happens in March yet. Maybe people like Campbell just like the coaching staff that came here did. We seemed to be able to attract good coaches that had offers other places

What player on the Lions was not a complete failure the last 2 years under Patricia? Ever think it was horrific coaching? They turned our #3 overall pick into a near bust.

We can prefer to think the new coaches will bring out the talent in these guys that the prior staff was absolutely incapable of doing. Every victory the past 4 years was due to the guys on the field overcoming the shit coaching they were getting.

Maybe the new coaches will suck also, cuz its just SOL again...but there is far more room to improve than there is room to suck worse. Patricia set the bar pretty fucking low. Defensive guru whose D gives up a franchise worst and NFL 2nd worst number of points...the dude should pay back every penny the Lions paid him and be forced to payback every ticket purchased by fans over the last 4 years. He sucked, his staff sucked...why would his players be successful? Any individual player's success was in spite of that fat fuck.
