2022 Off-Season

Lions will be on Hard Knocks. Going get some interesting behind the scenes looks

Make a separate thread on the hbo show maybe ?.. out driving so I can't. Thanks anyone. Go Lions trade down !

You must not follow what Campbell has actually been saying/doing and just looking at media snippets from his opening presser

when someone in charge says something that stupid, you remember it. He will probably do it again on that stupid TV show. I hope he does...adds to the Lions legacy as the laughing stock of the NFL :lmao:

You would like that wouldn't you troll

You aren't even a Lions fan. You need Will Smith slapped

my guess is he is going to look like a clown to most people.

Personally, I like Campbell. He does come off as a meat head and clearly doesn?t have much of a filter, but his team plays hard for him. He clearly knows what types of players he wants and gets them to play at a higher level than they had (Not saying everyone plays like a Pro bowler, but we had a number of guys play better than anticipated last year and I think that says a lot for coaching).

He seems to me to be similar to Mike Tomlin. A motivating type head coach that is less focused on X?s and O?s and more focused on who is out there competing. Campbell is more outspoken, but like Tomlin the guys that play for him play above their level a lot of times.

Play hard for him?We won 3 games his first year. It?s easy to meet expectations when you have none to meet. Let?s see how he does when people start expecting results.

Over the past 2 years the team hosting the Superbowl has won. Since the draft is the Lions' Superbowl, wouldn't it be fitting if the Lions have the #1 overall pick in the 2024 draft?

The Lions are somehow never bad enough to pick 1st. Outside of Stafford, their last #1 pick was Billy Sims back in 1980.

A lot of what you say makes no sense. ?Apples are red but alligators don?t care for watermelon?.

You can play hard and still not win games.

It is a small sample size?..but one year in and this team is in a much better position than it was at this time last year. A good first step for the organization. Let?s see if he can have a successful year 2.

They'll still play hard for him if he can motivate them. He's a straight shooter on questions and its a welcome change his honesty. About 2024 though, there would be major questions I'm sure if we continue to lose. We'll see what happens. Just because we won only 3 games with an injury riddled very young team (3rd most games lost in league) new scheme roster doesn't mean we can't win in more in 2022 or real competitive in 2023. Also if we only 4 and he's not a complete dick head, they'll still probably play hard for him.

Jags, at Carolina, Seattle, Jets, Packers once, Vikings twice, Bears twice, at Giants, Commanders. Thats 11 winnable as those teams have major problems just like the Lions

Bill, at Pats, new look Dolphins, Eagles (crushed us), at Cowboys, at Green Bay are probably losses but you never know

Let's see what Goff and Ben Johnson and Chark can do and St Brown and Hock can
Let's see if Oline is healthy how good our pass pro and run game can be
Let's see what health we get
Let's see if we add defensive talent in draft and what this coaching staff can do. Can Aaron Glenn earn that head coaching job by making us an average defense with all these young players but no game changers yet. Hopefully Thibodeaux changes that too

This roster was left decimated by the New England boys. That plus the Stafford trade plus the cautiousness they took with injuries, I'm shocked they even won a game, let alone 3 and a half.

Would like to see how this staff does with actual healthy talent and a more cohesive core. IMO they squeezed about as much as they could out of that thrown-together dogshit roster last year.

When you add Decker, Ragnow, Romeo and Okudah back to it. Add a number 1 WR in Chark. Full year of Reynolds. St Brown monster second half. Hock. It's not even bad. Running game was solid with duel backs plus Reynolds, Oline can be good, WR looks mediocre now at least.

Now defense young guys have to develop for sure like McNeil, Onwuzurike, Barnes, Ife, Parker, Jacobs, Okudah. We got the coaches to actually do it but still work to do. Plus a whole draft with extra early picks to add more young defensive talent. Walker and Charles Harris are solid. Pick 2 could be a really good defensive player too. Pick 32 or 34 could be a really good safety right away too to replace Will Harris to depth. Pick 32 or 34 could be another young talent WR.

Funny thing too is. If Davis and Anzalone were draft prospect (not Lions players) with their skill set, everyone would be clamoring for them at pick 32 or 34 in this draft

If Goff were a draft prospect, he went number 1 overall in 2016, he would be the top QB on this draft class board too (17th QB rating despite shit problems right behind Josh Allen). If Goff was in this class, Lions could pick him at pick 2

On paper, this offense has nearly all the pieces to be in the top half of the league IMO. Drafting a WR or two in the top 34 makes Goff the clear weakest link on offense, which I can live with for one more season (Rams lived with it for longer).

I also believe Anthony Lynn dragged down this offense early in 2021. Not having his influence or playbook coming into 2022 will be a boost on its own, I can?t imagine Ben Johnson being any worse. They looked completely fucking lost on offense before Lynn was forced out.

Agree on the offense and Goff. He has two 100 QB rating years, Lions have enough around him to get back there. He can play well enough with support and maybe the defense has like 3-4 really good games where we score low but win too.

Agree on Lynn. I think they were trying to figure things out though early in the season and dealing with Decker out too/no Reynolds/St Brown in a different role. Packers D, San Fran D, Eagles D, Bengals D, Rams D weren't slouches either in that first half. Ravens too before more injuries and the Tucker kick. Vikings and Bears in close games (all those red zone woes in Bears game but moved the ball. That's alot of playoff defenses to face too.

Lynn didn't have Decker which was big. I think Lynn helped the run game some but definitely telling that they dumped him

Romeo Okwara, Brockers/Levi, McNeil, Thibs (C Harris, J Okwara, Penisini, probably need one more DT)

Davis, Anzalone, Barnes, rookie LB pick 66, Board, Dion Hamilton

Okudah, Walker, rookie safety pick 34, AO/Ife, Parker/Hughes. Jacobs recovering from ACL though. Harris still 3rd safety.

I don't hate that defense with these coaches but it could go either way. Could still suck too if young guys don't develop. Assuming pick 32 is WR help
