2022 Off-Season

Need to start saying who you would be very opposed to draft

Pick 2: Willis? Hamilton? Travon Walker?. Any ok after a trade down?
Pick 32/34: Pretty open. No TEs or RBs. Probably no Oline. DT I think some would be upset but I could see that pick. Oline even for a stud guard replacing Vaitai next year. Anyone opposed to QBs still here? Like Howell or Ridder or Corral would that waste a pick in your eyes or you think they could develop into a franchise QB?

Pick 66 and 97 pretty open

Edge, Safety, LB, WR pretty much a must for most here I would say. And we know 503 is Willis or bust

Hamilton at #2 is the one guy I absolutely do not want to see. Too high for a safety IMO.

I wouldn?t say Willis or bust. Willis is who I like but I?d be happy with whichever QB is the highest on their draft board.

I'd like to see a primarily defensive draft, with the exception of WR at 32 or 34. A QB with a high pick with this draft class would be a disaster IMO, especially Willis. I want no part of him. He was a low 60s completion percentage in college, I just don't see that getting better at the next level.

Trading down would be an absolute dream scenario for me. I think they could accomplish quite a bit more with more picks in the teens. The #2 talent in this draft (whoever that may be) is simply not worth the combined value of say 8 and 14 (regardless of the value charts) IMO.

That being said?

- Hutch or Thibs is my top choice
- Despite positional value, I still like Hamilton. Fills a massive need and if he ends up being the best player out of this draft, it will be worth it IMO
- I could live with Willis, I don?t think there?s a QB in the draft worth taking that high but he has the most #2 upside at least

I?ve soured on Walker. From what I read/hear, he seems like an athletic freak who doesn?t really know how to play the position yet. Too much of a gamble for me.

Out on any of the OTs, even if they trade Decker you?re still relying on a rookie who probably won?t be as good early on plus you?re basically admitting you spent either the #2 pick or the #7 pick on a RT (or a OG if they don?t move Decker).

Everyone else feels like a reach?Johnson, Gardner, Stingley.

32/34 and beyond is more unknown, I?ll try and get to that when I?m not on my phone.

Plug holes at the starter position. For me that shouldnt include back up QBs, TEs, RBs or DTs. Seriously i saw a mock that had us taking Jordan Davis...pretty soon were going to trot out 11 fucking DTs as our starting D.

You need starters at WR, DE, Edge, LB, OLB and S. Potentially a starter at G. The point is...plenty of options to chose from.

But were the Lions so i fully expect to draft a TE in the top 10, pick another starting DT and trade up for a rd 2 RB.

I set out to find some of the worst mocks.

Went down the rabbit hole of this site - https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/

Here's a fun one:

https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.c...e-steelers-adding-to-the-trenches-news-update

#2 - OT Evan Neal
#9 (via trade - no info) - QB Malik Willis
#22 (via trade - no info) - OG Tyler Smith

DT can be a pick with the scheme change.
1) Brockers might be more DT now and he might be done next year given age and cap hit and lack of dead cap. He is de too or 4i. Lions could draft another versatile piece like that in dt/de to replace brockers
2) Levi has work to do. I hope he ends up a good starter but if they take wyatt or tj jones, levi could be dt3 or kick out to de some depending on package
3) Nick Williams and hand are gone and a 3rd dt would play a ton of snaps either way. Rotation of two good 3 techs and mcneil at nose could be nice and help the lbs

DT would not be as wasted pick like te or rb. Even te could play alot of snaps in 2 te sets, spelling hock or hock hurt often. Though dont think one worth it at 32 or 34. Rb should be set but again, swift hurt, jamaal williams a fa next year. Do like reynolds and igbeukwe and jemar jefferson potential though. Doubt they take rb though. Guard replaces vaitai next year and better depth over stenberg for 2022

Who I absolutely don't want at #2. Malik Willis. I just don't think he will be a good NFL QB. At all.

Who I want at #2 if we can't trade down. Hutchinson....but assuming he's gone......Kyle Hamilton. Might be the best player in the draft. This whole "don't take a safety that high" mentality makes no sense to me. Take the guy you think is the best football player. If Hamilton becomes great.....nobody complains we take a S at #2. Guy fills a really big need in the secondary. 6' 3" 220lbs. 4.59 40 time. Could play S or LB.

Who I want #2.....Thibodeaux or Walker. I'm torn between him and Walker for best DE after AH. I think Walker might be a more complete player.....but either one fills a giant need and they are both high risk, high reward players.

Who I think they draft if they stay at #2: Willis. Because it's the Lions.

Hamilton on tape looks great. 40 not so much but always go with the tape. I just like the safety class at 32 or 34 and the ability to just get a stud edge at 2 is more value. Cine or Brisker for me might not be that big of a drop off from Hamilton

I don't get Willis vibes from this front office and Campbell even with Willis and Pickett visiting. I would be pretty shocked if they took Willis but understand it. Such a boom or bust pick though

Drafting Willis at #2 would set the rebuild back. Please stick to the plan. Draft defense and WR.

The only good thing though. You use one pick on a QB though a huge pick of 2. If we aren't in a position to take Young or Stroud, we might have to use multiple draft picks. So even less for a rebuild

If he takes Willis at 2, he better nail 32 and 34 or trade down one of them for more picks. And he's got to find an edge somehow. He would have more cap space for FA edge or safety or WR next year but risk there too

If QB and Edge is the plan at 2 and 32/34, right now you?re probably looking at either

Willis and Ojabo/Mafe/Ebiketie

or

Hutch/Thibs/Walker and Ridder/Corral/Howell

9-days to go until the draft and we have no clue who the top 3 picks are. This is a crazy year.

I saw a mock today from Peter Schrager that had Walker going #1 overall to Jax and us grabbing Hutchinson at #2 and Matt Corrall at #32.

It means absolutely nothing.....just the ONLY mock I've seen that has Walker as the #1 overall.

I think the Walker talk may pick up over the next week. Vegas odds gap has been narrowing as of late, Walker now +200.

Hutch to Jax doesn?t seem like a done deal yet, though I don?t want to get my hopes up.

Also this report about Baalke wanting to trade out, not in love with anyone but may feel forced to take Hutch for perception reasons.

The way these WRs are getting paid this off-season, I won?t be shocked to see one go in the top 4. Maybe as high as #2, that?s something no one is talking about.

Walker is the guy that scouts liked when the year is done but his combine tests will make his stock soar. He's 2022 version of Mike Mamula. I think you get what you see in Hutch. No surprises. I'd be shocked if anyone else was taken 1st.

Charles Davis has Walker going #1 with us getting Hutch at #2 and Pickett at #32.

THAT would be a great 1st round. Then a WR at #34 and defense the rest of the way.

What would be the reaction if we drafted either Willis or Picket #2 and traded up for Garrett Wilson? Sets up the offensive future for the franchise.

If they take Willis and Wilson...Picket and Drake London will end up being HOF players. It's the Lion's way :lmao:

Depends what they gave up. And Willis is going to have to be really good. Also i hope these defensive coaches can really really develop young players
