2023 NFL Draft

I don't hate Daniel Jeremiah's mock
6 Devon Witherspoon CB
18 Trenton Simpson LB

I'd like it better if we got those guys after a trade down with Carolina.

I've seen a LOT of mocks already. I've seen some that have us grabbing Witherspoon at 18.

The most common 1st round mock for Detroit is Breese at #6 and Christian Gonzalez at #18.

I saw bucky had those picks today. I don't know how I feel about the Breese pick. Value wise its probably right. I don't know if he makes our team better.... how many times are we going to pick a dt that doesn't produce in early rounds?

We have positions that need more of an upgrade like cb s and lb.... there's just none projected that high at the moment. I'd be ecstatic if we could trade down and target those positions.

If we're stuck at 6 I think I'd go skoronsky and play him at RG. Or reach for a cb.

Ps...3rd qb was still on the board in bucky's mock.... keeping hope alive for a trade!

Crosby, Prater, Robbie Gould, Greg Joseph, Matt Gay (Rams) all FA kickers to look at. Four former North kickers.

Do we bring back Prater now that we are competing for playoffs and not rebuilding? He is 38

Bears leaning toward moving the #1 pick. Not sure if this will impact the Lions much, but I assume this would guarantee QB at #1 for whichever team trades up. Might push back one of the top D players if Houston and Indy don?t move up, but still take a QB. Probably not enough for Anderson/Carter to fall to 6, would still want to trade out if neither are there.

There are alot of people starting to lump in tyree Wilson into that top tier dlineman conversation. I'm not one of them. He's really strong and sets a great edge. He has a real slow get off and rarely wins by a pass rush move. If he wins its by pure strength. Corner or trade down would be the better target imo.

Agree on Wilson not a good value at 6. He is a closed end. He also has a foot injury right now I believe

I don?t know what to make of the corners yet. Weatherspoon seems to have risen to the top in general, but I can still look at 5 different lists and see 5 different rankings. Hoping one of the top QBs fall so some team will be itching to trade up. The Lions could probably trade back 4-5 spots and still get whatever corner they want.

Agree 100%. I don't love many guys we can realistically get in rd1. Witherspoon, drew sanders, torrance at G...and mayyyyybe you could convince me Bijan Robinson if he's sitting there and we're picking in the 20s. I also like Antonio Johnson as a safety prospect but he's projected to go late 1st or early 2nd.

Witherspoon and Gonzalez are top tier and have elite potential imo. Porter Jr and about 4 other corners are right behind them, but i think are a decent step down from those 2.

Witherspoon plays tough and with heart. He's not tall but definitely not short. Having him would give a real toughness to our secondary. I like him at 6 over all of the edge guys.

Why get a guy like that? And don't say it was just a mistake, 2 people were killed and he was directly involved.

the story says that reckless driving and drag racing are both misdemeanors. The driver of the other SUV (LeCroy) had a blood alcohol level of 0.197. He was the driver of the SUV that crashed and killed 2 people.

I wouldn't draft LeCroy...but I would draft Carter.

It's like robbing a bank, the guy in the getaway car is just as guilty..

You're right. 20 year old "men" can never change.

I am definitely the exact same person i was when I was 20.

I don't know Jalen Carter. Never will. But I know 20 year olds do stupid things. 20 year olds who are never told no do stupid things. 20 year olds about to be multi-millionaires that think they're untouchable do stupid things.

Men mature.

He made a bad mistake racing someone.....but he didn't directly cause the accident. It certainly would make me want to do a LOT of homework about who his friends are.....what he does in his free time......is he drinking a lot?

But if all those reports came back good.....it wouldn't keep me from drafting him.

If you?re worried about drafting a player who has driven fast and reckless, you wouldn?t have enough players for any major professional sport teams.
