Tigers' Jackson Jobe flexes attack mindset in strong spring start: 'Here's my stuff'.

Hope Jobe has a nice year. It would really help the rotation. Rather have him start than Maeda or Montero.

Here’s every pitch from Jackson Jobe’s impressive outing this afternoon. Still not many strikeouts, but hitters can’t seem to do much against him.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

There are many question marks about who will make the Opening Day roster.
The injuries of unknown length to both Matt Vierling and Parker Meadows have added to the intrigue.
In the infield, multiple new candidates have emerged over 3B. There are at least 4 players who stand to benefit with the injury to Vierling.
Spencer Torkelson may technically be out of a home now that Colt Keith is taking over 1B. And Justyn-Henry Malloy is said to be playing well there and he plays multiple positions unlike Tork which gives him an advantage.
And then there is the battle over SS. Will it be Javy Baez or Trey Sweeney taking over the majority of the work?

The outfield has now gotten interesting with the loss of Meadows and Vierling. Who will take over CF? Who will become the RF? Will Kerry Carpenter tame his struggles with hitting LHP enough to get the job full-time?
And what about newcomer Jahmai Jones?

Which one of these battles – the infield or outfield – is the most interesting to watch?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!

TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.

I voted infield. All the Tigers did by adding Torres is add a problem, not a solution.

I guess he came to ST and his velocity was up about 4MPH when compared to the start of last spring training.
Not worried about the velocity so much, though it is nice. I worry about those pitches over the middle that did absolutely nothing.

I hear ya. I was just putting the rotation that I want to see. I want Mize and Madea to make the starting rotation because they have such good springs that they are forced to play them. Same with Tork. Those three players being good is what is best for the team.

The Tigers have made the following roster moves today:
RHPs Chase Lee, Matt Manning, Tyler Mattison and Tyler Owens have been optioned to Triple-A Toledo.
RHPs Ryan Miller and Ricky Vanasco have been assigned to minor league camp. Major League camp now has 51 players.

Manning was drafted in 2016. Now 27 years old. He has a AAAA mentality.
