Blandino: Crew missed holding call

Dallas did a lot to try and give that game to the Lions. The Lions could not take advantage. The Lions deserved & earned that loss.

Sorry some cant see it.. Pettigrew was mugged... Even that is not Lombardi's fault...
One play can change a football games outcome...

I cant help how naive you are being right not to think things are not talked about behind the scenes before games, after games and or on party busses, in the off season. TV contracts ect, ect, ect.
LOL...

There was no call while the game was going on but if anyone thinks the games wasn't called different from that picked up flag on they are just not watching close enough..
The refs were a joke from the picked up flag on..

I'm just trying to understand who is directing this and why they waited so long to try and fix the game. Is it coming from the top? Is it coming from the networks? Is it coming from advitisors? Is it coming from the head of officials? Is it a rouge individual official? Is it all a giant scheme to get more money in 2023 TV negotiation rights?

I find it humorous be called the na?ve one coming from someone who's argument is on par with Aliens, Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster.

Yep and giving up 4th and 6 did that.
Giving up TD on 4th and 1 did that.
10 Yard punt did that.
Interception did that.
Fumble did that.
Underthrowing Pettigrew did that.

1 play can change a lot. If you put the game in the officials hands that is the risk you take.

If you call the game by the book, all penalties offset. If flags were all thrown at time of the penalty occurred I don't think Dez comes on the field since he would of seen 3 different flags.

Well flag, hat, and whatever they throw for third penalty.

The ref that works for Fox was just on Cowherd 10 minutes ago. He said that Dez coming on the field with his helmet off is technically not a penalty because he is classified as a sub at that point. A player coming in between plays does not have to have his helmet on when he comes on to the field. Now we know he was not coming into the game but that is what he said.

while that is true, this was also a judgement call since everyone in the world knew that he ran onto the field with the sole intent of arguing the call with a ref. oh well, win some lose some

we got screwed with a bad call/no-call and still had a chance to win it and couldn't.

exactly. After that call the Lions still had the upper hand but couldn't close the deal.

The hold allowed on the Cowboys last TD pass was more egregious.

But Lions had about 4 bad defensive plays that cost them. Big Terrence Williams play allowed by Vaughn, 43 yarder to Dez on Levy missed takcle, 15 yarder to Beasly by Seisay after holding penalyt in redzone and the 21 yarder to Witten on 4th down. 10 yard punt didn't help either. Throw in the 4th down TD run to Murray too but it's hard to stop one yard. Kudos to D for holding after fluke batted pick though and the rest of the game they dominated many drives.

3rd and 1 to Tate on last FG drive and 3rd and 2 miss to Bush in 3rd Quarter, Ross terrible return to 5 yard line starting that controversial drive with the PI and the protection on last drive. If Ross kneels the ball, we start from 20 and may be in FG range which avoids 20 yard punt (but plays can change)

.......Also where was our #10 overall TE, why is the play designed to go to our pass blocking TE that no one wants.

1. Watchiing, same as OBJ.
2. Because the Lions were too fucking incompetent to draft OBJ and have him as a 3rd option behind CJ and Tate in this situation. Imagine...OBJ as your 3rd option...ahhhh...wait, he's better than Tate so maybe it would have been thrown to Tate while Dallas doubled CJ and OBJ?

DAMN YOU MAYHEW!!!! You didn't need to draft a TE...you needed a PLAYMAKER (you know, a W-E-A-P-O-N instead of the weep-on you did draft).

If anyone wants to look at why the Lions only went 11-5 and lost in the P1 round...it was that singular mistake in missing out on OBJ. That move will haunt this organization for years. They could have gone to the Super Bowl with OBJ. That is the mistake that killed the season. Lions at worst go 14-2 with OBJ on the team. That's right, 14-2, possibly better.

the elephant in the room is why the fuck are we throwing it to Pettigrew on 3rd n 1 with your playoff life on the line. 2) why are you throwing it to Pettigrew with a lb on his ass on 3rd n 1. 3) why are you not going for it on 4th n 1 with your playoff life on the line. momentum is a huge part of the game...we had none after dallas converted 2 4th downs and made the game close. 4) where is Caldwell during any of this? He didn't show up until 24 hours later. 5) plain and simple....you need to be able to score more than 20 points in an NFL football game.

OJB may be the only one who can catch some of Staffords errant passes.

Even with the conservative playcalling on O, if you have a true playmaker like OBJ, the points would have rolled up. It's been pissing me off and I can't let it go.

CJ, Tate, OBJ...not even the Seahawks could defend that. 3 stud playmakers...so pissed. All that BS about "weapons" and the whiff on the biggest weapon in the draft. fucking idiots.

all this talk about not drafting OBJ... time to move on, it didn't happen... get over it.

It is ANOTHER example of ineptitude by Mayhew, so no...it will not be dropped so easily. Mayhew fucked that one up big time. Listened to a rookie OC telling him he had to have a TE like Graham...which Ebron never was or will be. Mayhew needed to step up and say, what you need is a fucking playmaker who doesn't drop the ball because Stafford will be throwing to him and you need to understand that Stafford throws an errant football.

How the GM doesn't recognize that is beyond me. Of all the players on the team, you have to KNOW what the QB is and is not good at and how to maximize the good and minimize the bad. You have to get guys who can run great routes and have incredible hands. Draft day came and they announced Ebron and the biggest problem was less that he was a TE, but he was another TE who drops the ball...cuz that was something the team needed.

Wouldn't matter, we stopped looking at Tate for some reason in the second half.

We are too busy staring down swing passes that have no chance to be successful and trying to throw it through the back of a defender to worry about getting it into the hands of talented people that are open.

who cares? really. nobody can predict the future. maybe we draft OBJ and he wrecks his knee his first game back... or maybe he never has another year like this again... dwelling on the past like you are is pathetic since we can't change anything that's happened. it's time to move on and look forward to next year.

Way too early to give up on a rookie TE. Way too early especially when you look at other stud TEs rookie years.. Disappointing year. Made some contributions with a couple key first downs, TD in a 7 point win and a couple blocks.

500-700 yards next year and 4-5 TDs. With two 1,000 yard receivers on this team, that's all we really need from a third guy.

Fuck Blandino and his weak ass apology.

This is the best:

The official on Sunday had "discretion" to decide whether Bryant's actions warranted a penalty and decided against it, although Blandino said he would have supported a penalty on the Cowboys' star receiver if one had been called.
