Blandino: Crew missed holding call

who cares? really. nobody can predict the future. maybe we draft OBJ and he wrecks his knee his first game back... or maybe he never has another year like this again... dwelling on the past like you are is pathetic since we can't change anything that's happened. it's time to move on and look forward to next year.

So now we can't bring up the past. Got it.

Looking forward to Mayhew putting Tag on Suh!!! Yeah baby!!!!!

Talking about past..most frustrating game for me when the Lions needed the Vikings to lose to get in..1980. They were about to lose, last play - 1-handed Ahmad Rashad hail mary catch as time expires. I was like Bob back then, couldn't get it out of my head for days, weeks.

I got all the really pissed off out after the GB loss I knew they needed to win that game to have the best shot..after they tied it up 14-14 then proceeded to botch the kickoff out of bounds I knew it was all over right there amd went into shutdown pissed mode right there and then and didn't come out of it for days.. I think on sucide watch for a good 5 days before being able to cast out the demons...thought yes they can beat Dallas probebly get hosed out of it somehow but they'd just lose to Seattle anyway...and...Yep got jobbed out of it alright pretty massively ...still would have been nice though to win and not set the record for most consecutive playoff game loses...sigh

Not fixed not rigged rather just slanted how's that...slanted no that isn't it either...damit!

Anyway Yes I question the integrity of the game!

Thanks for reminding me... damn it all... Not sure why I had forgotten that one..

Another sad thought, seeing Wayne Fontes with the highest win total as a Lions coach. And he's still under .500. The history sucks..

Dude, is not about the past so much as it is you're anointing the kid as a first ballot hall of famer after not even playing a full year. Speaking of the past, remember other ?can't miss prospects? Michael Crabtree or Justin Blackmon? Yeah, they were great; except that they weren't. OBJ might fall into that category next year, or it could be the system he's in with the Giants. Who really knows...

That is why getting this game ripped from us really sucks...
Refs influence the whole game epically from the Picked up flag on.

There's a difference with OBJ...call it the "it" factor. I never thought of Crabtree or Blackmon as having "it". They were good, but OBJ is different. Missing on him will haunt this team for years.

Bah! C'mon z, we got Ebron.

Ebron is less frightening to defenses than riding the fucking single token child rides at Chuck E Cheese.

Ha! I will admit it's too soon to cast judgement on the "Matchup Nightmare,"
but he's been uninspiring thus far.

how can you be so certain not drafting him will haunt this team for years? he's good, and might even be great for several years to come, but we've all seen what having a stud receiver and nothing else amounts to with CJ... adding him after we signed a proven wr, in Tate, was unnecessary. if we did that, he would have seen less than 1/3 of the snaps he did in NY and probably wouldn't have been talked about at all.

Funny how you worry about how the 1/3 snap potential would be impacted with bringing on OBJ but neglect the same potentially happens with Ebron on the field. What's good for the goose is good for the Ebron-der.

Compare these aspects:
Route running
Hands/Catching
YAC

Those are the 3 most important elements of any receiver, whether TE or WR. Ebron wasn't brought in for his blocking ability, they had Pettigrew for that and Fauria was their Red Zone TE.

But let's take the guy who grades lower in all 3 of the most important receiving elements all because a 1st year OC thinks he can be something he had slim potential of becoming based on all measureables and pre-draft analysis.

And as for OBJ being great this year, but we don't know about the future...well, Ebron was not great this year...so...

go check eli mannings 4 games without OBJ. Then his stats the rest of the season. Certain players can make even matt Stafford look good. OBJ is one of them. That said....no one had him graded that high in the draft....not a single person. There were reports that the lions COULD reach for someone like him to add a weapon ....but it was going to be just that...a reach. No one knew OBJs game would translate this well to the nfl because LSUs pass game sucks so bad.

Wrong:
Ebron - http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1865396/eric-ebron
OBJ - http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/2028300/odell-beckham-jr

Yes Ebron was rated #1 TE, but 17th overall by the cbs team. OBJ was #3 WR but 14th overall. One can easily argue they considered Ebron a bigger reach.

Just arguing your point about "no one" having OBJ graded higher than Ebron. There might be others as well, I just stopped after finding the first.

It's all hindsight even if you find one person that rated him whatever.

Year 2 will be more telling for Ebron. We made playoffs without OBJ and Ebron not producing for the most part. Only way to go is up. And Tate did just fine, better than OBJ. That's the real comparison.

usually the 3rd wr off the board at 10 would be a reach for value. IFFFFFFFF ebron was going to be the hybrid TE JImmy Graham of our offense then it could have been argued that 10 was a good spot for him....but that was going to be based on his production. And his production sucked ass and he couldn't catch a cold. In theory what he was supposed to do for this offense potentially brought more value than a WR that some thought couldn't play on the outside in the NFL before the draft.

not a fair comparison...oBJ put up similar numbers in only like 10 games and made the pro bowl.
