Get StartedPat Caputo says not to judge Inge's spring too harshly as ST player evals are "meaningless." What a boof.
Cringe said:“I feel great at the plate,” Inge said. “I consider a quality at-bat squaring it up and hitting it on the screws. I’ve done that a lot. I don’t have much to show for average, which I really don’t care about. I’ve learned -- especially after last year (when he hit .197) -- I don’t care one bit. I’m having fun playing baseball, and I will continue to have fun.
"I will never let numbers bring me down again. I’ve hit a lot of balls right at people.”
I'm as disappointed in inge's numbers as anyone else, i believe he is a "sacred cow", on the roster because he has seniority. But what do people want him to say? "I suck, I have always sucked, I will continue to suck". I don't think thats going to happen..
Thank God, I feel much better about Inge now that Pat has spoken

Brandon Inge's destiny is down to final out.
from the detnews
Cringe : "I love to play baseball and I'm not finished yet," Inge said Tuesday. "Not even close to finished.
"I'm not worried about it. I'm not letting it get to me. I'm gonna play baseball for a long time."
"I don't care what my average is, my swing is kind of right where I want it to be," he said after he had three at-bats Tuesday ? a hard single up the middle, a ground-out to shortstop, and a walk.
"As opposed to last year, when my timing was perfect but I couldn't hit the ball out, my strength is there. I've hit a lot better than my average. I've hit a lot of balls hard and right at somebody."
Inge believes another comeback is in the cards. If not, there will be no return to the minors.
"I doubt it," he said. "I did that once. I try not to be one-sided about things. I felt like I owed that to them (Tigers) last year. We've had a great relationship. And I'm sure this is tough for them, too. They can't determine anything off of spring training, and yet they're gonna have to.
"But one thing I've made clear is that I don't make decisions off one bad year. I'm kind of tired of selling myself short. And I know I'm a lot better hitter than other guys out there."
"As opposed to last year, when my timing was perfect.." - Did he really just say that?
:lmao:
