Caldwell's Staff

And if Stafford has 19 picks again, we might not care if he throws 35 TDS(8 less fumbles, more than 22 turnovers lead to more TDs).

id care less about staffords turnovers if the defense could actually cause some.....but the fact gunthers defense was a bend bend bend, no attack defense that didn't cause any turnovers....staffords errors turned out to be much more critical.

We'll see. If he isn't deserving of being 10th ranked then I don't want him. We'll see if a WR steps up and deserves to be taken 10th. If so, then go WR.

I won't bat an eye if they take a stud LT(Robinson) or CB or Ebron (depending on Pettigrew in March). All those help Stafford too (protection, turnovers forced, TE separation).

Ebron becomes a very interesting pick seeing that Lombardi had graham. Im starting to see Jace Amaro creep into the high 2nd late 1st round a lot. Austin Seferian Jenkins has been on the day 1 or day 2 radar for a long time as well. All 3 are dynamic in the passing game. Jake Pederson from Wisc is a decent mid round guy.

Dumping Gunther was the best move this organization has made so far this off season. Terrible philosophy. Just relied on the front four getting pressure.....if they didn't, the other 7 just stood around and waited to make the tackle.

No blitzing.

Do disguising anything.

No bump m2m.

Just soft zone coverages and 2 deep man with the CB's 10-15 yards off.

Do you guys think he has the potential to be an elite QB? And if so, do you think he will ever be an elite QB?

Depends on how you look at elite. Some say Favre was elite, others don't. Will he get back to 2011 or close, I don't think so. As far as the skill set to be elite, everything needs to be perfect for that to happen. I'm not sure he can make anyone better, but I wouldn't completely dismiss it. I'm in the middle working my way down..

At this point in time I would lean towards no. He has the arm but nothing else. He has the potential but my gut feeling is no.

I guess I'm more hopeful than anything else.

Living in Pittsburgh, this board is the only interaction I have with other Lion's fans.

Most my friends tell me (after asking why I don't just become a Steeler fan) that he really looks like the real deal, has IT, whatever IT is, etc. I think I've been chalking up a lot of his bad habits and dip in production to the horrible coaching he has been strapped with. I'm hopeful that the new staff will straighten some things out and he will live up to his huge amount of potential. But if there isn't an uptick in his play after a reasonable amount of coaching and time, I think my opinion will change radically.

229/363 61.3% 19TDs and 7 ints(all in wins). First 9 games. 6-3. Could have been 7-2 or 8-1. The one bad game at GB without Calvin and Nate Burleson and Fox playing Right Tackle. That is more than good enough, that is very good and that is over half the season. Stafford played good enough for 8 wins in the first 9 IMO.

5 of the last 7 games shouldn't define his season. But unfortnately it is all people will remember and people will blame him fully for all 10 of the picks in the 4 of 6 losses to end the season for some reason. They'll forget Foles was bad in the blizzard too and they'll forget Calvin/Pettigrew and Waddle didn't play against the Vikings.

so hes allowed to suck when a couple of his weapons don't play and an udfa RT to the tune of 13 points vs one of the worst teams in the league without AP? how does that make any sense?

I'd like to nominate LKP. He did break down every one of Stafford's passes this offseason.

I nominate Hughes, that way when Staff's ego gets in the way, Hughes can smack it down and remind everyone how much they all suck

How about both?

Hughes coaches him after a loss, LKP after a win?

They could even reverse roles when Stafford has a string of wins or losses.
