Camp Cuts

well, I don't have confidence in the Lions front office or coaching staff either. I don't see them making the playoffs this year. Probably finish 8-8 or 9-7

Again that's your problem. They clearly have the talent to make the playoffs. Just because you don't see it, well that doesn't mean anything. It's not even a reason.

The Lions are so deep in the secondary yet they are going to be looking on the waiver wire for other team's cast offs.

Defensive backfield getting settled: Detroit released corners Jonte Green and Aaron Hester and sent safety DeJon Gomes to injured reserve on Monday, giving some clarity to their secondary. Green was a somewhat surprising cut since it seemed like the team might at least keep him around until Saturday?s final cuts, but Chris Greenwood clearly beat him out. The questions in the secondary is now how many corners and safeties the team takes and whether it looks at a sixth corner (likely Greenwood) or a fifth safety (either Isa Abdul-Quddus or Jerome Couplin). Those will be two situations to watch Thursday night.

What?s next: The Lions will probably search the waiver wire for secondary help, maybe take a look at a receiver or kicking options. Otherwise, they play Buffalo on Thursday and make final cuts Saturday.

Who cares what some reporter thinks about them searching on the waiver wire. They don't know jack about Greenwood and Vaughn either.

And if we find another Mathis like last year, then so be it.

well...you think they will make the playoffs....and that doesn't mean anything either. They are just opinions.

Greenwood is here because we suck. He couldn't be a starter anywhere else..

There is more to back up playoffs. Talent wise especially

But we'll see if they go waiver wire for CB. They kept 5 last year and 3 QBs and 6 WRs but it's a brand new staff so they could keep 5 or 6 CBs.

Slay,Mathis,Bentley and Lawson seem to be locks. Question is 5 or 6 Cbs (and number of QBs/WRs 3 or 6 or one less for each). Vaughn has experience and Greenwood some too now seems to be healthier. They didn't have the experience last year (so got Mathis) and Greenwood had a hamstring problem (so went to PS). So they got Mathis and kept him. This year they have Vaughn and Greenwood is proving more helath. But if they think a vet is better than either, then a move could be made.

i'd say it's his measurables and performance in Week 16/17 and pre-season.

You also thought the Joe Harden clone was great depth. I'm starting to waiver on your ability to know talent..

Florence had a good year. Never said he was Joe Haden. And just because he was cut doesn't mean he wasn't. Just means Vaughn and Greenwood were better.

Mathis had a decent year. If he repeats that year and Slay takes a huge leap forward, we'll be okay. The depth behind those two is horrific, though. There is talent, but the performances have not lived up to it yet.

Greenwood did well last year and this pre-season and finally proving health. Vaughn held his own in Indy too. Far from horrific.

Lawson in nickel, rookie meh. Maybe slide Mathis to nickel (if Bentley goes down) on those downs (keep him outside the others) and then play Vaughn or Greenwood.

We'll see

Man the lions are still hurtin for secondary I see, on and on and on

And on....

And..
That's right you guessed it

Greenwood played in 3 games last year. How does that constitute "doing well" last year? He has the size and the athleticism to be a good corner, but he's currently not "good" depth. And to be honest, I wouldn't call the touchdown he gave up against the Jaguars to Allen Hurns in the 3rd quarter a very good play.

Vaughn has been ok in the past. But he's currently average at best.

And Bentley/Lawson aren't exactly who you want starting, as you mentioned above.

I think Quin and Ihedigbo can be a pretty good safety pairing, but I'm worried about our CBs.

Greenwood played well when give the chance. And Vaughn has plenty of experience. Good depth

What's your analysis of the touchdown he gave up this weekend? I posted the video in my last reply.

Thought James Anderson would be worth a look since he had 10 sacks last year. ...may the schwartz be with you snagged him up off waivers.
