Camp Cuts

The key word is talent. He has talent. Hasn't really played all that well this preseason. He was absolute trash last year. I don't know why you are so confident he is going to be so good this year. I think he has a chance because he has the talent to be good, but he has shown nothing as of yet.

And I still don't see the depth you keep talking about. Mathis and Slay are the only CBs that we have that would definitely get picked up by a team if we cut them.

Slay was not trash. He progressed as the year went on. Shut down his last 2 full games. Rookies take time. Now it's year 2.

Wrong and very wrong. As always tomdalton

I had to base it on your posts here. You have to be pretty young since you have not suffered through the decades of terrible football that the Lions have provided us. You are a crazy Lion homer that sits and watches game tape over and over. That to me is someone that has no life. That is how I came up with 20 years old and living in your mom's basement. It was just a guess.

I can watch tape in 30 minutes you moron. Game rewind is amazing. I have an incredible life. Married, six figures. I won in life too not just in knowing Lions facts.

Whether he was a rookie or not, he was trash last year. I'd love to have your optimism about him, but I haven't seen him with the ability to be a good CB in this league, yet. He just hasn't shown it. I like the kid and I really think he has potential to be good, but I haven't seen it. Maybe it will take another year or two. Hopefully it shows up this year. I just don't know. This secondary is not as strong as you pretend it is. If our defense doesn't get pressure on the QB, it's going to be a very bad year on that side of the ball.

We might have cut Joe Haden but we still have Richard Sherman..secondary, top 3.

I find most people that say things like this are actually pizza delivery drivers or work in the fast food industry.

I'm a Slay fan. You and I just have some extra leg room on the band wagon right now LKP.

I'm a Slay believer, but a realist.

I think he will be a very good starting CB in the league, but probably not til next year. This year, he's going to be better than last year, but he's still going to get beat like a rented mule.

Slay did well towards the end of last year. And now he fits the scheme. Big year for him

I think he is better this year too. I think he'll have a good year overall, but get beat deep a few times trying to jump routes and having to play a lot of press man. Even Sherman and Patrick Peterson get beat deep a couple times a year.....so Slay will too. But I don't think he'll get beat enough for anyone to call for his benching, like he did last year.

I think Lions fans will get to see a huge improvement in play recognition, zone reads and just better overall positioning. He's gonna make a few big plays this year.

3 picks is his ceiling this year. He'll play well. BUt he's going to get whooped.

Hey, that's learning. He'll be better for it in '15

I just want to see improvement from a area the Lions always seem to forget about.. Plus I want to see more tip INT's this year.. It would be nice to see a guy on our team break out and have a ton of INT's....
Hopefully it will be Slay...But any of them will do...

Levy was second in the league in ints last year.

Didn't Mathis sit unsigned last year for months and no one wanted him until we picked him off the trash pile during the preseason.

yes...and he was going to move to safety like most old dog cbs in this league. But are need wa so great cause we have no depth and no starting talent that were playing a guy that was last good in 1999 as our #1 cb.

And then Mathis played reall well at CB. Great late signing.
