Could Urban be FIRED?

OK. I've said nice things about the Buckeyes posting reasonable reactions. But I also don't want to give the impression there aren't voices bending over backwards to make Meyer the good guy.

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/ohio-state-football/2018/08/94876/the-ethics-of-courtney-smith

This exploration the Courtney Smith's ethics describes how she was ethical in keeping things quiet so that Zach Smith could remain employed and support her children financially. Which is a prelude to the following mental gymnastics: if it's ethical for Courtney Smith to keep it quiet/keep Zach employed, then
As odd as it may seem, Urban Meyer may have behaved altruistically by keeping the events of 2015 quiet. By not firing Zach Smith in 2015?which would have blown the lid off of Zach Smith?s years of abuse?Meyer was (or thought he was) doing what was in Ms. Smith?s best interest: keeping Zach Smith employed and the alimony and child support checks flowing.

yeah, the texts? what did he say? like "I will kill all of them" and fuckup any guy she ever dates?

Urban can sure pick his guys, can't he?

Dirty program filled with bad people.

meanwhile... what were the good guys doing? oh... what a coincidence.
I don't think he said 'kill', but I think he said something like "I'll take everyone down with me."

He got into her her wifi, had the ability to access her email and laptop remotely, had a webcam under her couch, and was found in Courtney's boyfriend's backyard watching them through a window.

I definitely read something that quoted him as saying he would fuck up whoever she dated so bad that no one would recognize him.

also accessing emails and that stuff is a crime. she needs to start going right to the cops.

and also: if she has a protective order against him, she should be able to leave,
if not the county, then the whole state of ohio.

usually if there's a divorce and joint custody, the custodial parent can't do that, unless there is actual physical abuse.

One heck of a coincidence. I hope it's a coincidence. Not a thing to subtweet about.

one of the responses said she spoke at OSU last week, and someone else wrote back "It didn't take."

also, yeah, I read some comments on 11Warriors... it seems like the vast majority of posts are at least neutral on Meyer, and positive on ohio state, like "Whatever happens, we just need football to start! we'll be fine!"

the next most common thing is playing the victim; all of this is unfair. some of these posts actually attack Courtney Smith... I'd imagine the people doing that are also wifebeaters themselves.

there is a tiny minority that is upset with Meyer, and OSU football over this. like hardly anyone though.

also, more of them feel Meyer will survive than elsewhere I've read, without expressing an opinion as to whether he should go. But I suppose that's to be expected...

OK, I saw a different quote. The one I read was about OSU's coaches that he was going to take down with him.

He definitely threatened to kill someone:

Zach texted Courtney: “The past 3 months. You were going to try to give me a chance a week ago and now, even though I have done NOTHING WRONG since then, you’re done with me. I will kill that bitch and everyone involved. For ruining my life. I am getting myself right and getting punished. F--- all of you.”

Here is the other text and quote you guys referenced:

Zach to Courtney: “Just know that now… I will find you when your out. I will come seek the douche your with. I will f--- him up to the point that no one will recognize him”

“Zach once told me,” said Courtney, “if he ever got fired and this all comes out: ‘I’ll take everyone at Ohio State down with me.’ ”

I started to type a post out about what I would do if I was him to turn my life around, and how I sure as hell wouldn't spend it badmouthing my former employer, especially when they helped cover up my bad behavior for close to ten years, or creeping around in the bushes outside my ex wife's house...

...but then I thought anyone who could beat his wife for 10 years, including threatening her in front of his kids as she alleged, is probably a hopeless case.

if Urban et al have any conscience whatsoever, they'll realize they bear some responsibility in this and stage an intervention before Smith kills himself or his ex-wife and kids.

BUT they'll probably just turn a blind eye to it and focus on what's really important: beating TTUN, hurr.

I hope her new boyfriend is that ref from the 2016 game who was smiling and cheering after osu touchdowns.

Yeah, there's something broken about him. No concept of other people or ability to empathize. Seems to think if you follow a set of rules then a person has to want to be in a relationship with him. If he does nothing wrong starting.....now, then the past gets wiped clean and he is owed what he wants.

How do you threaten to kill people and say you are getting yourself right in the same line?

A Toledo reporter says firing Meyer without cause would cost $38 million.

How do you threaten to kill people and say you are getting yourself right in the same line?

Why don't you Email him (or his attorney) and ask him? I'm sure he'd be happy to explain his reasoning!

there's an article on yahoo.com sports that actually has some new information.

I can't find it on my phone, but it's written by Pete Thamel

basically osu has empaneled an investigative board consisting of three university trustees, and two former assistant US attorneys for ohio, to investigate and make a decision on Meyer's employment. article only provides names of the attorneys; not sure what his sources were

This will take longer... although I'd imagine they'd still want to wrap it up before football season starts.

In theory, this panel should be unbiased, and neutral in their ruling. This would give OSU cover IF Meyer is retained of course, but may also make it more likely he would be fired, than if the athletic department handled it.

You?re the attorney; that said how does a private institution subpoena anything for its own internal investigation?

wrong word. they can't subpoena it as a court proceeding, but they can get phone records if they own the devices. I don't actually do investigations, so I don't know the specifics.

if urb and shelley weren't using university owned devices, they obviously have leverage to compel them to turn this stuff over as part of the investigation... if they don't cooperate, he's fired.

I don't know what your cell phone provider stores, in terms of the content of text messages.

even just the metadata (to/from, & time sent) is still somewhat useful though, to verify that all the messages are there. If Urb says, "my wife never told me, and here's my phone"...
and if he deleted messages, they still would show up in the logs, even if the msg content isn't visible and he deleted it from his phone.

there's gotta be some kind of software that can help analyze all this.
