Could Urban be FIRED?

July 24th
"When I first heard that last night, I did some research and there was nothing. I don't know. Someone texted me that last night. I said, '2015?' That was only a couple years ago. I told people to go find out for me. I'm not sure where that comes up."
10 days later:
"My intention was not to say anything misleading or inaccurate"

OSU fan

He made a statement now about how he knew, so he is going to be ok now

The only reason Urban finally fired the guy was, because of the trespassing thing where they caught him in her and her boyfriend's backyard spying on them. It was ok to ignore 10 years of violence, but that was the final straw...

Most posters on 11 Warriors think he's vindicated.

-This drags on all season and OSU goes 3-9 (0-9 in conference) because of all the distractions, including Urban showing up in a fake mustache and glasses and trying to coach on a gameday

In the years before the JoePa scandal, didn't PSU students wear fake glasses with a big nose and big ears?

Maybe Meyer should do that.

EDIT:

Here's a link to a pic from google. Google changed the format and I can't figure out how to embed them anymore.

I read some of their threads on this, and I think you've been way, WAY to charitable to them.

a lot of them on twitter are like "Yeah wife beating is wrong, and Zach Smith should've been fired, but how is this Urban's fault? Why is this an issue now?"

then someone explains it to them, and they just repost almost the same thing, but with more capitalizations and exclamation points.

heads in the sand. also dumb.

It's flipped. There were reasonable voices there at first. They're gone now. It's almost all victims of the biased media that's just jealous of OSU and apologists that think Zach just had to defend himself from his crazy wife and it's the police's job to prove otherwise, not Meyer's.

Okay.

This is the police's job.

To do an investigation ascertain if there is probable cause to bring a charge and if they make that determination to do so.

Then it's the prosecutor's job to decide if there's evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Zach Smith is guilty to pursue that.

If Zach Smith considers himself innocent or not guilty it's his job to present his case - he probably should get a lawyer.

Meyer's job I would imagine is to follow the protocol of the University, and of course, to comply with law enforcement honestly at any encounter.

Why do you folks even pay attention what morons on blogs who don't even know their assholes from their elbows think they know about anything?

One thing Meyer made certain to let everyone know is that he is a liar. We all knew this, but he confirmed it for everyone with his horseshit statement.

I agree with this. Universities don't want to go to court.

After reading about Zach Smith, his ex-wife and their kids should not be alone right now. That guys sounds unstable and dangerous. OSU should hire security for a while to make sure nothing happens.

Seriously, after watching his interview on ESPN this morning during which he claims that he was just defending himself, it is clear that the guy is not right in his head. Were the threatening texts and stalking defending himself? The guy is mentally and emotionally deluded. Textbook abuser. He is dangerous to his wife and family, and himself.

He gave a reporter an evasive answer on a sensitive topic he wasn?t prepared to deal with.

Whether it?s the Ohio State head coach or whoever it is, I am inclined to give a person a pass on that.

He didn?t lie under oath, he didn?t lie to the police, he didn?t lie to his boss (as far as we know), he wasn?t engaging in any kind of fraud or swindle.

If anything, he was too apologetic and his statement in my opinion.

I think he should?ve worded it more like I worded it in post number 17; ?I?m not obligated to tell the media everything I know about a sensitive and private situation.?

Because he?s not. Whether it?s the Ohio State coach or anybody else, nobody is obligated to tell everything they know about a situation to the press if they think it?s not in the best interest of people involved.

If some reporter got wind that an atomic bomb was being developed and someone on the Manhattan project was ask about it, should that person I have told that reporter everything they new?

He outright lied and said he had no knowledge of any incidents in 2015. That's not evasive, that's a calculated lie.

You know what else he could have done? Fired Smith instead of continuing to enable him until he was forced to get rid of him.

Just defending himself....

I don't even think that's the one thing. The one thing in my mind, is that Meyer and Gene Smith knew something about this in 2015 and did nothing. If there was any investigation, they didn't even ask the ex-wife for her side of the story. If they didn't know, it's because they didn't ask questions when they should have.

If it turns out he was a bad actor by not doing something about events in 2015, that?s very different than not answering a question in 2018.

If it?s decided he should be fired by higher ups at the University because of actions he didn?t take that he should have three years ago, so be it.

Yes.

I know you're going to be all like "Durrr, don't give me your liberal shit about 'citizens having a right to know and all that,' hurr" but these assholes are all public employees. The press is the eyes and ears of the public, and has a job, - some would say a duty - to keep the public informed.

If he is okay willfully lying to the press, or refusing to be candid with them because he's ****ing Urban Meyer, and the press and the people are all insignificant little people in his mind... fine. That's his prerogative. But neither he, nor his jackwad fans, have any grounds to complain when the press goes after him and looks for a story when he lies to them or refuses to be open and honest. That's their prerogative.

The Ohio State fanboys - or fanboys in general - that whine about the press and play the victim when the scandalous behavior of their lame ass heroes is uncovered should all be beaten.

Seriously... they should have the shit kicked out them by militant First Amendment Freedom of the Press supporters.

(I really wish such people existed...)

OK.

But bear in mind public records existed about the events of 2015 Since they occurred anyway.

So it’s not like the press didn’t have access to those. The press doesn’t need urban Myer's Permission to access the public records, just go see the public records. You are the free press, That’s what you’re supposed to do.

Where was the press back in 2015, not going to urban Meyer and saying “this is the public record of the events surrounding your assistant coach Zak Smith and his wife - Have you addressed this at all?”

I don’t know why the press is getting around to just asking about this now. It hasn’t been a secret or anything.

Seems to me, Urbz is putting this on Gene Smith between his statement yesterday and Zak Smith’s saying Gene knew about it.

Can Geno, have NCAA suspend Urbz a few games and live to coach the bucknuts another day.

Not a bad strategy, really. Poll 10 osu fans and they’d take Meyer over the AD any day.
