Could Urban be FIRED?

I almost think Meyer is NUTS for putting that statement out yesterday; if anything, Gene Smith did him a favor but not firing him on Thursday, and handing this off to a committee to formally investigate.

But by claiming he told them everything in 2015 (which still doesn't absolve him of knowingly employing an abusive scumbag for 3 more years BTW), he's trying to throw SOMEONE under the bus here, and that someone could only really be the one guy who did him a solid by not firing him already.

The OSU mafia will take care of Gene Smith. He'll live the rest of his days in comfort...

Yes, solid...except three years late.

Where was SI When the very police reports that were cited in Cleveland.com that I had link to in a previous post indicated nine police reports about the events around the 2015 became part of the public record? Cleveland.com is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Cleveland plain dealer, which has been the paper of record in that region for over a century.

They are all in the pot. The OSU mafia makes quite certain that these people don't report the truth out of C-bus. You haven't been paying attention. Don't you remember MoMoC driving around in a SUV full of weapons as the OSU mafia was prepared to take him out?

I guess I was saying the same thing in post #184.

OSU fan still sticks to his guns, How could Urban know, Urban didn't beat the woman, What should Urban have done, It's all Gene Smith's fault even though Urban is the one on suspension. They are going to hold a rally for him.

Well, Urban admits that he knew, so he did know...or he didn't, depends on which Urban you believe I guess. Which time was the lie?

Why did they fire Zach Smith? He violated a PPO by driving onto a driveway...Why fire him for that after letting everything else go?

OSU fan thinks everything is fine now that Meyer came out and stated that he knew about the 2015 allegations and that he just lied to the media 2 weeks ago, because he was caught off guard. It is good to see that a few writers think otherwise. They think his statements have made things worse.

I still think they are trying to keep Meyer.

If you are caught off guard or are not sure of the response whatever happened to "I don't have any comment on that right now." or just "No comment". Meyer is a seasoned coach with many many years as an HC. If he denied knowledge of something and it turns out he was thoroughly knowledgeable, then his denial was purposeful and not just confusion or being caught off guard.

I read more about the investigation today (link). They hope to have it wrapped up in 14 days they say.

This part caught my eye:
Former chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Mary Jo White will lead the investigative team.
She was a Wall Street lawyer at a big Manhattan firm who defended all the banks from fraud charges. Then she was appointed head of the SEC by Obama and every time they tried to pursue an investigation against a bank she would say "Ooops! I used to defend them, so I can't preside over the investigation now. Sorry!" ...and so the SEC basically did nothing during her tenure.

THen she left the SEC to go back to her law firm and defend the banks again.

Appointing her to lead an investigation (ANY investigation) suggests that the fix is in.

This is probably one of the toughest questions OSU has to answer (bolding is mine)
Maybe Meyer and Ohio State can produce a good explanation for why Smith stayed on staff in 2015. Maybe they can even claim he was disciplined. But that just begs another question: Why was Smith fired last month? Ohio State can try to cite an immediate cause: a domestic-violence civil protection order filed against Smith in July 20 of this year after he was accused of criminal trespassing. But that news did not immediately lead to Meyer firing Smith. When it came out, Ohio State issued a no-comment: "We are not going to comment at this time on the situation regarding Zach Smith. This is a personnel matter and we don?t typically discuss such matters publicly. We are continuing to monitor.?

The real reason Smith was fired seems to be national college football reporter Brett McMurphy?s report about the 2015 incident. But what does that have to do with anything? If Ohio State followed proper protocols in 2015, why would the school retroactively punish Smith once it became public? And if Ohio State knew about the 2015 incident and the 2009 incident, then why did it issue a no-comment in July? That would mean that Ohio State knew about three domestic-violence accusations against Smith (including the criminal trespassing) and did not immediately dismiss him.

I think the answer is obvious: they thought they could get away with it.

they thought the story wouldn't see the light of day.

They would otherwise be perfectly happy employing a guy who regularly beats and terrorizes his wife.
