Fairley demoted to second team defense

No, what I meant was why not offer a little more especially at the time when his only offer was Seattle. Why double it..? Tate is a nice option but he's no Calvin Jr. I just don't get why you automatically double it..and if Tate did get a 3rd offer that was comparable he wouldn't be here..which was my point. We have to overpay.

Maybe Seattle low balled him thinking that super bowl contention meant more than getting paid what he's worth. Maybe you should be laughing at Seattle low ball offer instead of passing on Detroit paying up to get a much needed #2, that could be a #1 if called upon. If CJ goes down this year, I can say I told you so. Tate is a great addition.

You say it as if it is fact, we don't know that. Tate has an opportunity to play next to CJ, that would be intriguing to ANY Wr.

Seattle overpaid Harvin and had to pay Sherman, Thomas, Chancellor and soon Wilson. They couldn't afford Tate.

First, if CJ goes down we're in trouble.

No doubt Seattle low balled him and wanted a home town discount. But at the time he had no other offers..so when I say we need to overpay that can't really be disputed. Sometimes you wait on the market, if Tate goes elsewhere go with another option..Detroit doesn't really have that luxury.

Let say Suh and Fairley are gone and the Lions have a ton of money to play with. You think AJ Green would even field other offers if he could get paired up with CJ? I bet he wouldn't bat an eye at the other offers.

You still haven't proven he's overpaid, give me some comparable receivers and their non rookie contract numbers

Being paired with CJ is nice but it's not all that..no one has a CJ. In fact I doubt Green wants to be a number two..Unless we overpay of course

Isn't that your leg work now? I just think in Detroit's situation some high priced guys, high cap and holes we could wait on the market. Tate is not our savior. I don't know what others make I just think they went to fast at him..

I'm definitely not arguing that Quin is solid. But to suggest that he's better than Earl Thomas is just ridiculous. He was the best safety on one of the strongest secondaries that I've seen in my lifetime.

Endless opportunities, and I highly doubt Green or anybody would consider Green the number 2. 1a and 1b. Why you keep ignoring the question? Prove that Tate was overpaid.

Yes it is ridiculous. So are most of LKPs comments though.

Tates overpaid because this player is equal to him and is getting paid this much. And...go!!

Crickets...???

When one offers half he was over paid. Because we had other options besides Tate. If we didn't get Tate would our world be over ? Go to the next guy, draft another guy..The lions can't afford to wait out the market so they go quick and overpay. I get it but that's why he's here. If he was offered similar in Seattle he'd be there still..no one comes here because they want to..okay maybe Suh

When one offers half it's because they assume the player is stupid and that their agent doesn't know what he's worth. And the fact that the 3 best players on their team are due huge contracts

K Mitch, either prove that Tate is in fact overpaid by comparing similar players and their contracts or retract your "Tate is overpaid"statement.

That doesn't mean he's not being overpaid. Like I said, Tate is nice but he's the one that puts us over the top. 31m imo is being over paid.

Proof that he's overpaid compared to COMPARABLE players is in order. Cmon dude, I thought maybe you could back you're statement, and honestly, I'm now interested in how other similar receivers contracts stack up to Tates. I'm far too lazy to research it though. Cmon guys, help us out, lol

Retract? I just have a different opinion than you. And knowing someone else's contact status, it's not as clear as that. But it's pretty safe to know that Seattle's shitty offer was the only offer he had before Detroit.

I did find a article which says only 1 WR, I assume it means recent FA, that got as much guaranteed money as Tate. THAT was Decker with the Jets. Some got a little less most significant less..
