Fielder for Kinsler trade

Where did you get this idea? I don't think I have ever read that DD "did not want" Fielder. I think you're mistaking the fact that Illitch wanted him and made sure the deal went through, for Dombrowski now wanting anything to do with him.

By your logic DD didnt want Cabrera either, someone else Illitch told him to pursue.

Ok I guess it was poorly worded then, but I think people understood the general point. Let's just say Fielder wasn't Dave's first choice and he was just pleasing his boss. There were several lower-cost options that he presented but Illitch had a soft spot for fielder. Dave also told the media prior to signing him that Fielder "wasn't a good fit" with the Tigers. I guess he could have been lying though.

Prince Fielder used to take batting practice as a kid at Tigers Stadium, and was known for hitting the ball over the right-field fence at a young age.

Unacceptable, Mr. Stephen Hawkins, whomever you are.

guess we got him 25 years too late.

If he would have said this after the ALCS maybe he wouldn't haven fallen out of grace with management and many fans. Instead...he pretty much said he didn't care.

Exactly, that's what nearly everyone was expecting him to say,
We move on and hope for a consistent offense and a better bullpen.

When he said "we just took away Cabrera's protection" I stopped. This guy is as uninformed as he is crazy.

No amount of reasoning will convince this guy that trading Fielder will help the team long term. He can hardly speak at times.

Although I do not like Kinsler and believe we aren't saving enough money, I am glad Fielder is gone. Now we can move forward. Going on and on about what is wrong is not being productive. 8 minutes of things that could be addressed in 2 minutes, which it was, but then he went on and on.

interesting that his wife and kids were with him at the press conference, the kids i understand but he divorced from his wife earlier this year.

not that his personal life should be fodder for the press but it was also used as an excuse/reason for his poor performance last year

Well he filed for divorce, but that does not mean they did not or can not reconcile before it is finalized.

And Fielder himself never once used it as an excuse for his sub-standard season, the media did and so did Torii Hunter, who I find the most likely person to be the one Prince has "clubhouse" issues with. I mean, Torii basically aired Princes dirty laundry to the media, no matter what his intentions were (to get people to lay off Prince) he probably crossed a line.

the yahoo article said it was finalized, that may or may not be accurate. i think torii had the best of intentions but maybe that wasn't the best move

I guess number 84 is not a slap to the Tigers organization...

Lol. Well, we were not winning one with him on this team, that's for sure. He will do well in Texas and mash a bunch of homers in that sand lot right field.
