Game 2: Titans @ Lions Thread

Whitehead was step for step with him. In his lap..that is how you defend when on the run plus with safety help. Do you even football bro?

There were two guys directly on Johnson, and Quin was wandering in the middle of the end zone doing basically nothing. The fact that ball got through 2 and a half players is damming on the defense, not some miracle and the SOL crap. That's SOL in the sense that it was a horrible defensive effort.

Who cares if he was step for step if he has no clue where the ball is. If he had any awareness, he could have just reached up and knocked it away.

It is some miracle. Great coverage. And holding by the titans. They call it on tomlinson to negate the second td to boldin. But then just flat out let titans cheat since its a fancy 4th down comeback

He had a clue and arms were up. It was great coverage but good throw with time and catch. Bush was there too. Music city miracle part two

Yeah, it was that much of a miracle... Come on man. Please stop trolling. I left for like half a year and you haven't changed one iota.

Really? He looks pretty clueless as to where the ball is to me. And who cares about Bush? He was behind Johnson. If he tried to make a play, it would have been a PI in the end zone.

And sure, Whitehead had his hands up... After Johnson made the catch, which also could have been PI.

Look, we should have won the game, but didn't. We were pretty bad defensively in the second half and you're talking about this "miracle" play that was really just bad defense.

Whitehead almsot jarred it lose. Such a miracle. You cant double cover better than that..incredible defense

Lions were only bad once all linebackers died and the ttians oline started holding more. Titans had two good drives and whitehead and bush had excellent coverage on final play. Tip your cap to johnson. It all sbhuld have been moot because ebron scored, intentional grounding was missed and low casey hit was missed

And giving up 16 is good defense. Lions forced an interception and a punt in the second half out of four drives too. With a waiver wire pickup and a de at lb

and made no play on the ball....yippee. If all you had to do on defense is run....then sign the entire fucking jamaican track team.

Whitehead almost doesnt suck ass. If he keeps improving one day he can move above suck ass and into shit pile.

Whitehead is good. 2014, 2015 confirm this. Up and down so far but good in run.

And that was good coverage. Johnson made a great play

The coverage was excellent. Did you play football as a kid? Whitehead was all over AJ on that play and Bush was gaining ground too. It was a dumb throw on Mariota's part throwing to a blanketed WR. Pure luck it was caught. The images show it. You're taught a few things in football. As a football player on the defensive side, you're taught to focus on a players eyes and hands while in coverage. Once you see those eyes light up and he's putting his hands up to try and catch the ball, as a defender you immediately try to put your hand(s) in between his to deflect the ball. Sometimes you can't always turn and look for the ball. Whitehead had textbook coverage in that situation. Johnson made a phenomenal play.

I only bring up Kuechly because that play would never happen with him in coverage, facing the QB. Whitehead was in perfect position, but not even knowing the ball was in the air means he already lost that battle. DBs are always ridiculed for not turning their heads, but you're giving Whitehead a pass for the same thing (minus the PI call).

Textbook coverage. End of story....

If it was good coverage we would be 2-0.

It was good coverage. Watch the play again. You can't ask for any better. Turning your head isn't always the solution there. Turning your head could result in losing Johnson on the pattern. Whitehead was in Johnson's back pocket for fuck sakes lol.

If you're going to play it dumb and face guard...then atleast knock the ball out off Johnsons hands. He literally ran with him and did nothing.

Look at the images again. Whitehead attempted to punch the ball out but couldn't. Give credit to Mariota for being ballsy and Johnson made a great play. The coverage was great. What don't you understand???
