Game 9: Dolphins @ Lions Thread

Correct throw would of been a bit deeper on CJs inside shoulder

Throw could have been better, but clearly Calvin would have been in bounds on the catch. That's clearly 6, if not for an amazing play by a DB.

And instead of giving the DB credit for the play, people want to make that sound like Stafford threw a rookie ball. He didn't. It was a great pass. It was a great play. It was an even greater play by a DB.

When that dude made that play on that interception I looked at my wife and said...I can't even be mad about that play. That dude just made a hell of a play. Most times that's a td. Sometimes the defender bats the ball away. 1% of the time that ball gets picked. I loved the play call. Sometimes you have to give credit to the other guy. This is one of those times.

Stafford got robbed like he was Mike Vrabel. Simple as that.

So it that is 45" vertical that makes CJ about 180" tall or 15 feet

Don't try to argue semantics of the height statements.

Grimes changed his clothes in the phone boot, took his glasses off, and flew up there to get that one. It was an amazing play that he couldn't replicate if he tried 1,000 more times.

Jeez keep watching that td throw to Riddick. That may be the most difficult throw I have seen. Drifting to his left, off balance, side-arm, and having to place that in a 1 foot square hole 15 yards away with the game on the line.

That was a great throw and a great catch. I saw the 5 on the jersey and assumed it was tate who made the catch. Riddick made a nice play. Glad to see he is getting more reps as well.

Probably going to be up there for play of the year...maybe one of the best interceptions of all time.

Peyton fucking Manning is going to single-handedly beat me in fantasy

This

Grimes is turning into a phenom. That play was Woodson-v-MSU-esque. Sure CJ got that earlier TD, but Grimes wasn't in bad position even on that play. Top tier v top tier type of battle which Lions came out victorious and preps CJ and Stafford for Patrick Peterson next week.

This was the first game that both CJ and Tate put up 100 yards in the same game

Targets
Game 1: CJ 11, Tate 6
Game 2: CJ 13, Tate 8
Game 3: CJ 10, Tate 7
Game 9: CJ 15, Tate 13

Not saying that CJ being injured was a good thing, but I wonder if it might've been a blessing in disguise. Stafford and Tate seem to have clicked since CJ went down.

Stafford and Tate definitely built up some rapport in CJ's absence.

Clearly "underthrown".

lead him to the back of the end zone and grimes doesn't even have a chance to make a miracle catch. your picture paints it perfectly....calvin shouldn't be slowing down and reaching back for the ball. hence it was underthrown.

poor throw allowed grimes to use his vertical....and allowed our freak of a wr to use 0 inches of his vertical.

was a damn good catch though...he played a good game.

Stop eating paint chips bro.

It's clear that two more steps on that same trajectory, and Calvin does in fact goe out of bounds. The route is the route, and the throw was good and on the mark.

Complete that TD, go up 17-0. Make blocked FG...up 20-6.

Those scores are much more representative of the game, which is why Lions were able to pull out the victory. They are flat out better than the Dolphins who needed some rarely successful plays to push it to the wire.

Hell if Ihedigbo keeps running up the sideline it's 17-0. As for the blocked field goal there is no alternate reality for that. One fg a game at the minimum is going to be associated with a screw up.

Not to mention the accuracy on a 40 yard throw isn't always dead on target which is why it is WR's job to adjust and go get the ball at its highest point.
