Game 9: Dolphins @ Lions Thread

Jeez keep watching that td throw to Riddick. That may be the most difficult throw I have seen. Drifting to his left, off balance, side-arm, and having to place that in a 1 foot square hole 15 yards away with the game on the line.

was nice to see tate have a huge 2nd half. after 15 yards in the first half I was like wtf....

I realize the need to get CJ back in rhythm, but they need to establish Tate early and often then use CJ for back-breaking plays when D starts to rotate away from him and toward Tate, making the DC crazy and dejecting the D altogether.... then run Bell through them for complete humiliation.

Not sure why Lombardi doesn't do this.

Final thoughts, shut it hughes, mitch, and myself, Stafford is our guy. No more questions, Stafford is our guy.

I'm glad when someone posted that "Ryan vs Stafford" thread before the Atlanta game that I chose Stafford. Some major crow to be eaten by a couple people in that thread.

Stafford may be inconsistent but he definitely isn't effected by pressure situations and that's pretty damn important for a QB.

No, they don't need to make CJ a situational player. That's fucking retarded. They need to take shots at him frequently to open up Tate. Tates ability to make plays outshines Calvin's 1 deep shot per game success.

Guys, guys...we all know when Ebron is back everyone will be open by virtue of his top 10 draft status.

That was the right call by Stafford. Calvin was open. sometimes the defensive players make great plays. Against most dbs that is 6, Grimes is playing out of his mind right now. the refs kept this game close and that was unfortunate.

Ball was under thrown..

I agree with this. I guess that's why I didn't mind Staffords int that much. He took a shot to CJ......not a forced situation either......he just under threw that ball. Grimes, who is really REALLY good......made a great play. But you take that shot if it's there. Otherwise, you aren't using a guy like Calvin to his full potential.

Looked to me like Tate gets a LOT of single coverage now. A LOT. That will pay off.

The problem I have is the inability to involve a TE. Any TE. Or a 3rd option. I get that we don't have superior athleticism out there without Ebron.....but for fucks sake.....are you telling me we can't get them ONE fucking catch???

Fuller?
Ross (who I hate)
Fucking Jeb Collins got as many looks as Fuller, Davis, Pettigrew and Bush COMBINED!!

Wish we would go up tempo more.. Matt seems to be better when we are moving faster..

I would hate for it to be flexed...makes for an even shorter week before Thanksgiving.

I don't think the 7 hours would make that big a difference.

However, it won't happen.

Dallas scheduled in that slot right now......against the Giants. Can you imagine the hissy fit Jerry Jones would throw if he got flexed out of that game???

Also, NE is scheduled in the Sunday night game the previous week......so i doubt they would get that game 2 weeks in a row.

More likely.....the Lions vs. Patriots gets moved to the 4:00 slot.

Ball was under thrown..

a 5'10" DB has to go up higher than I would have ever thought possible to make a one-handed grab with his arm fully extended... and somehow that pass was "underthrown".

Okay then.

I think you misunderstood my point. Teams are still rotating coverage toward CJ despite the damage Tate is capable of inflicting. So feed Tate and burn them till they stop rotating, then feed CJ till they rotate, then back to Tate... just keep cycling like that while running now and then when teams drop more in coverage to stop them both, or dump it to back or TE.

Just seems like Lombardi and/or Stafford are trying too hard to force it to CJ at times.

Right that was like a 45 inch vertical by that midget to grab that thing

My whole problem with the pass then Miracle INT was it was right after our INT... It was such a predictable Play call.. CJ already had caught a bomb TD.. With 5ish minutes left in the half why not be patient so Miami does not get the ball back.. It's like every playbook has this play in it... After a Big turnover throw a bomb....

Dude was airborn like he was Michael Jordan, and still barely managed to snag a one hander with his arm fully extended.

If that's "underthrown" they should throw more "underthrown" balls Calvin's way, because most guys can't get up there to take that one away.

Right so get it over his midget head and you have a TD... It's not like CJ is short or
anything.. its a pass from what the 35 or 45 yards away I forget.. Easy TD with a better
throw... But I hated the play call anyway..

This... this I agree with you on. Lombardi calls to conservatively when the team needs to move chains quick, and too aggressively when they need to protect the ball.

He's a first year O-Coordinator, so I'm not going to be too hard on him. He will learn more with time, but he sure hasn't made the impact Austin has.

It was 5 fucking feet over his head dude! If it was any higher, your "underthrown" pass would have sailed over Calvin too.

No DB in the league takes that one away, and if you throw the same ball in the same coverage, Grimes watches Calvin burn him for a second time every time.

Clearly "underthrown".
