Game 9: WFT @ Lions Thread

Chase Young with the personal foul to set up the GW FG. He is a Lion after all

Stafford was great. Few drops he had to deal with and a sack killed a drive. Never lost to Washington.

17 TDs 7 ints. Looks much better now

He was not great. He had some drives but was absent too often. Not we can't pick high. Way to go Lions.

Pressure and had to flip the ball on the first punt drive. Thats the drive he got crushed and hurt his hand too.

Run no game, run no game, nobody open on 3rd down was 2nd punt

TD to Hall, TD to Jones, FG in 2 min on other drives. 17-3 at half

TD drive to start second half with nice play to Swift. He threw four other first downs on this drive too including after a Decker hold on the screen to Swift

5 yards to James, run and nobody open on next drive. Punt

Holding on Aboushi, complete to Amendola but screen didn't work, 13 yard pass to Swift, then sacked on 3rd down. Punt

Nauta not open incomplete, 1 yard run, nobody open throw away. FG to take 27-24 lead. Stafford threw 2 first downs. Swift had some nice runs too. Prater was money

Final drive with 16 seconds Stafford was great. 10 yarder to Cephus, deep to Cephus and the penalty on Young. Good throw Cephus not enough speed. Beautiful 9 yarder to Marvin to get in FG range. Prater nails the GW

Stafford 3 TDS 0 ints and great passer rating. He was great on Sunday and caused zero drives to stall.

up 24-3 with 1.5qtrs left and they came back and tied....no one was great.

No failed drives were Staffords fault.

Also 30 points scored

Also Washington had the top ranked pass defense in the league. And KG didn't play and Hock dealing with toe. Stafford still torched them

Also the defense was getting torched for 3 TDs and a FG. Eats some clock

three drives were 3 and out. The QB always takes some of the blame.

That said, he played very good. His best game of the season.

If you watch, you can see he should take none of the blame on those 3 drives. Penalties, sacks on the Oline not pocket presence and lack of open receivers. Stop using blanket statements for reasons for failures. It doesn't have to be the QBs fault why drives fail.

And every QB typically has 2-4 punts a game anyways. Nobody is scoring on very drive.

Lions scored 30 points against a good pass rush/pass defense. Stafford finally got some run game help and look what happens. 30 points

I thought it was his best game, too. Couple drops, and Cephus looked like he could have easily caught that bomb at the end of the game. Looked to me like he didn't locate the ball and slowed down.....then the ball lands a step or so in front of him. That's not on Stafford.

Sure would be nice if he was targeting Fulgham on that ball and not the drafts slowest WR.

Fuckin Quinn

I thought he played well. But you let a team back in it from a 24-3 deficit with just over a quarter left....its the QBs fault as well for not being able to sustain drives which gives the ball back to the shitty defense. No other way around it....The other team scores 21 straight....that means you didnt score. Crazy how that works out isnt it?

It's proven Stafford wasn't the reason the drives failed. He can't run routes, run the ball and block better. Stafford is a big reason they were up 24-3 in the first place. And a big reason they got the last two FG drives along with Prater/Young penalty. Stafford was flat out making plays all day for 30 points and he finally got a little help

The defense is clearly the reason Washington got back in the game. Like 99 percent of the reason. Could not make a stop to save their life. The other 1% is on the weapons/Oline. Probably more Oline with sack and penalties against a good front 4

Lets not have EVERY chat break out in to a Stafford debate please. You take it there every fuckin time. Just let it go. Some people don't think he's very good. It's ok.

Just enjoy the win.

It's not about Stafford. It's about teaching them that not every drive stalling is the QBs fault. Their blanket statements don't fly. Especially when you drop 30 points on a team.

Enjoying the win for sure and the QB play. And Marvin Jones. And Marvin Hall (Fulgham who?) And Prater. And some run defense. And Swift

Fulgham had 1 catch for 8 yards on 5 targets in a loss to the Giants yesterday

Never could get on board with the Quinn-bashing over Fulgham. Is he any good or was he just putting up stats because the Eagle managed to lose every single one of their good skill players?

Perhaps a little of both, but I doubt he would've had this opportunity on the Lions. Packers waived him too.

To me, its more about the fact that Stafford seemed to throw a perfect ball in the closing seconds of a tie game......and the guy who is on our roster because we kept him instead of Fulgham misplayed it so badly it dropped to the ground.

Plays like that are game changers and in some cases season changers. Nothing is going to help us this year.....its just small decisions like that.

You don't need to be "teaching" anyone, anything. You're a homer. And that's ok.....but your OPINIONS are not facts. Stafford makes lots of mistakes. Guys don't get better just because it's their 2nd year (Tavai, Davis, Harris). This team is NOT holeless. In the super bowl era this franchise has NEVER had a 10 win basement. NEVER.

Stop trying to "teach" people your opinions.

Guess I'm more focused on why that throw even mattered...what poor game planning and/or defense that lead to them blowing a 21 point lead. It's what drives me mad as a Lions fan year after year, we end up focusing on the small stuff because the giant glaring issues create these scenarios.
