Goodbye schwartz

can you blame him?

Actually, yes we can. My guess? Stafford wants a coach that will let him just do his thing, without trying to clean up the mess that is Matthew Stafford. Staffords ego is becoming a problem.

Burleson on pace for 800 yards without missing 7 games. But he's probably gone for cap savings. Calvin missed 2 and limited in 2 others. Both RBs are good passing threats.

A good number 2 WR or a down the seam TE would be awesome. Have the redzone threats with Calvin and Fauria already.

Burlesons numbers are more like a slot reciever however. Look at his yards per reception his entire career. It's very low, almost like a tight end lol. He's good in tight spaces and getting yards after the catch. But not so much making plays on the ball downfield. C'mon people, do you think kris durham is starting on any of the top offenses in the league? Is he suddenly putting up better numbers with tom brady? lol. Our rb's are very good recievers..but there is a reason why our offense gets bottled up. Because you only have to guard one receiver past 15 yards. And play everything else underneath. Defenses figure that out, and we can't do a damn thing about it.

Perfect example of quarterbacks losing weapons and their stats suffer for it, tom brady, matt ryan, joe flacco, eli manning, phillip rivers.

It's not completely clear at this time what the status is for many members of the Detroit Lions coaching staff. With head coach Jim Schwartz being fired, it's a good bet that most of his assistants will be let go, and it's an even better bet that his coordinators will be fired as well. For now, though, there's no official news on the status of the Lions' other coaches.

Unofficially, however, it looks as though offensive coordinator Scott Linehan has been let go. Dave Birkett reports that "much of the offensive staff" is out as well, but offensive line coach Jeremiah Washburn "should be retained," according to Tim Twentyman. This makes sense considering how outstanding the O-line was under Washburn's coaching in 2013.

As for the defensive staff, there's no reason to expect that Gunther Cunningham will be retained. It's likely that most or all of the Lions' defensive assistants will be let go as well, but again, nothing is official yet.

My best guess is that questions about the future of the rest of this coaching staff will be answered during the Lions' 2 p.m. ET press conference with Martin Mayhew and Tom Lewand.

It would be great if they keep the Washburns and sweep everyone else out.

bingo...

the only coaches they should keep... possibly the ST coach, but even then as long as we don't bring Kwan back i'll be happy :p

Can't really use Manning here. Manning lost Cruz for what 3 games?

Hakeem nicks regressed big time also, the running game completely died out, and the offensive line had injuries and became in shambles all over the place.

Rivers, he's been a stud. And Brady still wins.

Look at rivers numbers when sproles and jackson left, completely different than now and before. And so maybe our 25 year old quarterback isn't as good as the mid thirties future hall of famer that is tom brady. Brady's numbers are still way lower than they have been in recent memory. His completion percentage was almost in the 50's yards per attempt was lowest since like 2006. Stafford doesn't have to be a peyton or brady. He just needs to be productive and if giving him more weapons is what it takes. Than that is perfectly fine.

And yet those years Rivers was still better than Stafford. Yeah us.

For you Mitch,

Just heard on the presser that Mayhew and Lewand will do most of the work on the HC search, but the decision will be up to the Fords.

Plus productive is throwing less int and having better than a 58% completion rate.
