Hanley Ramirez

It is going to be interesting for sure to see how things play out the next couple days but I really don't think the Marlins will move him UNLESS they do indeed sign Albert. Not sure we match up well with them for what they would want in return but with DD and his history with the Marlins you never really know. The problem with all of this though is if indeed we traded for Hanley we could very well be looking at the same situation only with Jhonny Peralta as to whether he would be willing to move to 3B because if he would not be willing then it would open up another can of worms.

What it could indeed open up for us is other trade options because if Peralta did not want to move to 3B we could then explore trading him to Atlanta in a deal revolving around him and Prado possibly in a 1 for 1.

Just for shits and giggles consider the lineup.

2B - Prado
3B - Murphy
SS - Ramirez
1B - Cabrera
DH - Martinez
CF - Cespedes
RF - Boesch
C - Avila
LF - Young

Might not be great defensively but damn at the ability to score runs lol.

id much rather keep jackson for center and put cespedes in a corner spot then ditch young. jackson is a much better player than young and is his polar opposite defensively. jackson is also a better defensive fit for center than cespedes and there has been a lot of talk about teams preferring to put him in right or left field where his bat and glove would fit nicely (25-30 homer potential, strong arm, covers a lot of ground, etc). i dont think we trade for hanley if it means ajax goes.

As much as I would love to see Cespedes in LF instead of Young next year the Marlins are looking at a need in CF so if it would be the trade I mentioned above there is no way in hell you wouldn't include Jackson in that deal. I am sure DD is exploring every trade option for DY especially given the major interest in Cespedes as well though.

I don't see how we could possibly match up with the Marlins for HanRam if it didn't include AJax given our available players/prospects. Imagine though how happy both Cabrera and Ramirez would be playing together again given their history/friendship.

Question:
Could the Tigers pull off a trade for disgruntled Hanley seeing as he is tight with the Miggy?

Henning:
Last guy the Tigers need is an overweight, disgruntled, moody guy like Hanley R. whose stock has dropped faster than Oldsmobile's.

My older brother drove a 1960 Super Eighty-Eight. I really liked that car. I had a '78 myself.

My first car was an oles...pretty BA Lol and maybe we can pick him up for a little less since his stock is low.

I ordered a new Chevy Camaro LT in early '77 from my late uncle who worked @ a dealership back then with as many options as were available at the time, including a 350 4bbl V8 engine. When it finally arrived for delivery to me, it had instead a 305 V8. I was pissed, but my uncle explained that there was such a huge demand for the popular Olds Cutlass and Cutlass Supremes, that Olds could not keep up with their backorder supply of "rocket" 350s, so they were putting Chevy's V8 350s in them!!

He also said that the only way that I could get a 350 Chevy V8 4bbl, in a new '77 Camaro, is if I reordered/exchanged my LT for the new mid-year re-debuted Z28 model which was only available with a 3 speed manual...oh, well..

Why on Earth would the Tigers need a 6'3" 230lb 27y/o with a career .306 avg/.06slg/.886ops who currently plays middle infield and could be moved to 2B/3B/LF in the future? Yet another example of whay Henning is a dope.

Maybe we can get more fluffer pieces on Inge's redemption from AAA to a .200avg MLB infielder and hold on to our prized farm system a little longer. ::)

Henning is a dumbass, Why he works in this town is beyond me.

Talk about being fickle.

If DET had a player who regessed each the last 2 seasons and has been on the "chunky" side (and possibly growing), I assume most DET fans would be chomping at the bit to get rid of him. Add in that the team signed a player that also plays his position and the DET player states they aren't playing anywhere else but SS.

I understand in buying low, not high. But do any of us know what DET would be getting with Ramirez?

He is owed $46 Mil over the next 3 years.

All I am saying, is that if Ramirez was already a DET player, making big money, with 2 declining years, most here would be trying to get rid of him.

If he doesn't want to move from SS for the Marlins, why would he for Detroit?

Pretty sure we would move Peralta to 3rd if need be.

GREAT post.

Maybe but if he was here, Inge wouldn't be. So that's a good scenario. He had injuries last season so I'll give him a bye on that.

The issue isn't whether Ramirez is better than what we currently have (i.e. Inge).

1. Cost of his remaining contract
2. We would have to trade players to get him
3. Questions about his work ethic and whether he would be a cancer
4. Regression, regardless of last years injuries

Listen, I have been one of Inge's worst critic over the years and have stated that so goes Inge, so goes the Tigers. But I am unwillling to hurt the team just to acquire Ramirez. If we can get Ramirez for a reasonably package, great. Lord knows DET has no hitting prospects less than 2 years away.

Source: Hanley Ramirez's rep asked the Marlins for a restructured deal. MIA upset with this, will now be looking to trade Hanley (more).

Ours for the taking

Sometimes you make a trade or sign a guy to get better and worry about 5 years from now in 5 years. I don't care much about his decrease in production. You have Reyes who had been injured, Wilson get years and money like a number 1 when he's not, Pujols getting 200 million plus and 10 years at 32, Buerhle wanting 4 years who is older and is more a number 3 etc.

Every player has some short commings. Its about getting better and winning a WS.
