Lions 2019 Draft

Previous 4 players taken with the #8 pick:

Roquan Smith - LB - Georgia
Christian McCaffrey - RB - Stanford
Jack Conklin - T - Michigan State
Vic Beasley - LB - Clemson

While I agree that picking 5 is obviously better and the GB win was meaningless, I don't agree with the idea that picking at 8 means we can't get a game changer. As always, the combine will completely change things. Some of these guys being mentioned as unobtainable could very well fall. It happens every year.

Great post bro!! The #8 spot has been very kind to teams as of late...

Losing 3 spots wasn't huge lol. Greedy could very well be there. You're so fucking paranoid it's frightening. We pick 8th, genius and you're calling our pick "next tier"? Wtf are you smoking?! Lol. We'll be looking at a potentially great player at 8. Chill the fuck out...

There's nothing to be paranoid about. Dropping 3 spots in the top 10 of any draft is a significant drop, for a game that meant absolutely nothing.

Of course there will be good talent to be had. But for what the Lions are looking for, a lot of that will be taken in picks 5, 6, and 7. Instead of getting someone elite, you may be picking Ed Oliver (who is good, but has major concerns).

I think any top 10 prospects is possible at 8 at this point in the draft process. Bosa could drop if he doesn't test or interview well. Same could be said for any prospect. Teams have different draft boards and needs. Not a single QB in any of the top 10s below. Teams typically reach for QBs. We could easily stay at 8 and get a top 3 prospect. I wouldn't rule anyone out at this point.

Or you can get someone elite at #8. You keep yourself awake at night thinking about it lol. Knock yourself out..

Tampa, NYG, Jacksonville at 5, 6, 7. Giants and Jags will be looking at QBs for fun.

it could have been a lot worse, 8 from 5 isn't too bad, that final game win could have resulted in them being as high as 12 or 13 worst case I think so i'll take 8 and be happy.

If Haskins comes out (I think he will), someone will jump up to get him. I wouldn't be surprised if someone jumps up to #2 (NYG or Jax)

9 was the worst case scenerio :D

Giants will go get a QB but not at 6, imo. Jacksonville most likely at 7.

Both Giants and Jax are in desperate need of a change at QB. I wouldn't be surprised at all if QBs get picked back-to-back before us.

Or the jags could always trade fournette for Stafford?

For the record I don't want to see Stafford traded I want to give him another shot yet. I just don't rule anything out..

Do you want Fournette here?

I wouldn't mind that, he'd make a nice replacement for blount IMO and the jags aren't happy with him I can defiantly see him somewhere else next year, why not here? He would not be allowed to act like a whining brat here, fatty would straighten him out.

Oddly enough...Oddel said he wants Eli as his qb in 2020. I do think they need someone to groom for the future. But i dont think they are in a dump Eli and put in a rookie mode.

Pick 6 Giants maybe...Everyone saying they want Eli for next year. But they are without QB of the future. Top of the draft is the time to get one.
Pick 7 Jax definitely is in "oh shit we need a qb" mode.
Pick 4 Raiders ...maybe....rumors they arent happy with Carr.
Pick 10 Broncos Yes but probably wont move up to do it.
Pick 11 Bengals Yes
Pick 13 Dolphins...maybe...new GM and HC could look to make a splash
Pick 15 Redskins...maybe...how confident can you be in Alex Smith comming off injury?
Pick 19 Titans...maybe...reports of Mariota not being the guy. Cant stay healthy...underperforms when not injured.

Great news for the lions are all the teams 10-15 that could be in the hunt for a QB and not alot of top tier QB talent in this draft. 8 is a good spot to move up and get your guy before the Broncos, BEngals, Phins and Skins picks. Trade down and grab an extra 2nd this year would be awesome with all the holes we have on this team.

Some rumors out there Slay could be traded. That would be the Lion thing to do....trade your only defensive stud because he doesnt like snow.

I would not be in favor of that, that would be stupid IMO. i'd be fine with traded Marvin though, he's nothing special and I think he's more interested in a music career anyway.

When you have a team like the NYG it seems better to get quality players before getting the future QB. Eli wasn't half bad this season. From what I read the QB position seems to be better in next years draft.
