Lions signed DE Israel Idonije

This thread just slowly gets more mutilated and derailed each day. Should just make a thread called "Detroit Lions Slappys vs Pessimists pissing/insult contest."

Have a weak part of your team? Can't get good in that area? Ignore it!

Good plan.

I didn't even realize this was still a thread about Idonije lol. Mods should probably keep it under control instead of further derailing threads.

According to the camp talk, Leshoure has lost about 5lbs and looks quicker on his feet. The tweeter said he was outrunning guys where last year he would've been caught.

He was also the most productive running back inside the 10 yard line last year(albeit not the best "study" because of a lack of sample size.)
http://sportswunderkind.com/running-back-quarterback-rushing-redzone-conversion-rates/

Given the context of the Lions backfield, it has to be a little worrisome to the Reggie Bush supporters that Mikel Leshoure owns the highest TD rate of any player at 56.25 and Reggie

Bush is never the bottom at 16% with only 4 touchdowns on 24 looks.

Arian Foster, with a mammoth amount of rushes inside in the 10 yard line still converted 28% of his looks into touchdowns. Defenses knew what was coming and Foster was still able to consistently score.

Steven Jackson has been annoited as an extreme value for fantasy football, due to the sheer number of touchdown opportunities he will be given. As a member of the Rams over the last 3 years, Jackson converted 23.4% of his looks, and the ancient Micheal Turner converted 25.69% of his looks the last 3 years on the Falcons. The sheer discrepancy in inside-the-10 touches moves the fantasy indicators up for Jackson. Over the last 3 seasons, Turner has received 62 more carries than Jackson. On average, Turner received 36 carries in side the 10. If Jackson were to receive the same looks and convert his 3 year average, that would set a baseline of 8 touchdowns. However, given the awfulness of the offensive line play and the offense in general, I think S-Jax’s conversion rate spikes.

His Godliness Tim Tebow converted 50% of his 10 yard touches, and the exact opposite of Tebow (Mike Vick) converted 45%, which leads me to believe that rushing quarterbacks have much wider lanes in which to score. If Tebow lined up a running back, that percentage would shrink.

Cam Newton: 44 attempts, 17 touchdowns. Just another reminder that he is the Panthers goalline back.

The problem with the run game has been the OL for years. Now that they are hopefully addressing that, maybe we can finally get a 1000 yd rusher and maybe 2000+ as a team...maybe. And maybe we can get a nice balanced attack in the Red Zone instead of a bunch of prayers thrown to the End Zone.

No he doesnt.

You're delusional

kevin smith
jahvid best
mikel leshoure
reggie bush

...every year. not a single 1000 yard rusher. not very good at his job if your guys' point is he is constantly changing over rbs because he wants the run game to be better. welp...it hasn't been.

Smith is a joke...ok. He still never drafted him though.

Best, Leshoure dont suck and bringing in Bush was brilliant for this offense.

And bringing in Bell was another great move. I forgot about that one...ha! ;)

bell was fine in the pass game but not very dynamic. take out his long run and his avg was just as bad as leshoure. together they combined for being one of the worst running tandems in the nfl. not much to brag about...

Not bragging about it. I just dont agree with your 'Mayhew sucks' at everything comments.

Why does everyone say "take out his long runs and he is terrible". Its like you dont realize how dumb you sound. If you take out Barry's long runs he was terrible. If you take away Jim Browns long runs he was so average. Just knock it off, he was a good change of pace on a team that didn't have a speed back and a power back coming back from an injury. God forbid he do positive things....

Cause it wasnt plural. It was run not runs. And when you have that few carries one long run greatly skews your average. If you reread the context of what this thread has been about we've been discussing how we can't run for avg. Bell didn't do a consistent job running for average. You just brought up jim Brown and barry in a discussion about bell....do you realize how dumb you sound?

Also...if you take away his "long run" his average is then 4.3 yards per carry. Still not bad at all in any way shape or form. If you're gonna make idiotic arguments at least do them right.

I did do it right. They were one of the worst rb tandems in the league and our run game sucked ass against 5 and 6 man fronts. We didn't run the ball well in any game in recent memory. They suck. They won 4 games cause they can't run against a 5 man front. Leshoure and bell were so awesome they got replaced. Better?

If you can't run against a 5 man front I can't see how that's on a running back. Why are they even getting tackled for short gains if there's only 5 men to block?

And so did the LT, RG and RT. That'll help the run game too along with Bush. And it might help LeShoure and Bell do better along with experience and more time away from injury for LeShoure.

LeShoure's and Bell's capabilities aren't trapped in some 2012 bubble.
