Lions signed DE Israel Idonije

Agreed. And if you don't like the YPC argument look at YAContact, where he's pretty much dead last.

He's engulfed by Dlinemen due to bad blocking. Breaking a tackle from a LB or DB is completely different story.

Leshoure will get more explosiveness and he can do well this year. Like I've said, giving up on him already is beyond dumb. Bell got some good blocking on his 3 big runs to jack up his YPC on 80 carries.

With Reiff and Warford, I'm excited to see what Bush and Leshoure(without a groin injury another year removed from achilles) can do.

That makes him a bad pick. Thanks Mayhew..

Not a bad pick. He was drafted because we needed another RB behind Best. He was supposed to be a cimpliment or even insurance but the guy got thrown into a starting role. And its ok that he's not a top option because we're built on an aerial attack. Now, Leshoure can go back to the backup role with the addition of Bush.
To call him a bad pick after one season is fn ridiculous.

Agreed. And LeShoure went about where he was supposed to in the draft. It was an extra 2nd rounder too using a mid 3rd/4th.

It boggles my mind how people give up on this guy so quickly and praise Bell with only 80 carries. I think they just want to bash a Mayhew draft pick. LeShoure will continue to grow and do his part with more health and more help around him.

Look, I get it. But those bruiser, compliment type RB can be had much later. If you want to call him a short yardage back or a backup to Bush etc, then we should have drafted a guy like that in the later rounds. I don't want my 2nd round pick getting 800 yards. Even if it is a passing team.

I'd rather have a C, or deep threat WR or a CB or another S.

I agree. A high round pick RB needs to be a go to player. You can get good running backs like bell for nothing.

We haven't had a good RB since #20, and you guys act like a late round RB is a lock. We used a 3rd and 4th on leshoure, not exactly going to set this org back if he doesn't pan out. If he can learn how to hold on to the ball he will do just fine.

And for a 3rd and 4th, if you call that - the guy better improve. And I'm not calling him one thing or another but Mayhew needs to do better with those picks. 800 yards ain't getting a done. You can get a starting S and a #2 Wideout for a 3rd and 4th..

Sure. I hate drafting a guy, like Whitehead, and wondering if he can even play in his 2nd season. Same with Greenwood or whatever his name is that plays CB.

Can't we get guys that contribute year 1. FK.

Probably the worst argument against LeShoure yet. So, jrange, you would take both Justin Forsett AND Ben Tate over Arian Foster? Both averaged more YPC than Foster last year, behind THE SAME O-line and had more explosive plays.(most notably Forsetts 81 yarder against Detroit, the Schwartz flag run) no, you wouldn't.....NOBODY would.

Turrble argument.

LeShoure is due his fault in a bad year, but the YPC argument needs to end. LeShoure was asked to run out of a shotgun spread offense, behind a really bad run blocking line and got almost 100% of the goal line carries.....which will lower any backs YPC. If you don't think an online has a MASSIVE impact on a power backs numbers....look up Jerome Bettis with the Rams and then the Steelers.

New England ran very well for avg out of the shotgun spread. And they did it against more than 6 guys in the box. The monster 1st round pick Reiff in the backfield. The All pro run blocking TE Pettigrew on the field. And he didn't do crap all year.

Power back? Dude goes down faster than a $2 hooker. Kevin Smith had more power and he was tackled by the turf half the time.

He was so bad and so not right for our offense we replaced him this off season. That is 4 times in 5 years that weve drafted/signed a new starting running back lmao. That's how dumb mayhew is....keep getting new guys to do nothing behind the crap line we have.

since you asked lol:

Alex Okafor DE (people had him mocked in rd 2)
Jelani Jenkins OLB (would have started at olb)
Brian Schwenke C (anything is an upgrade over Crayola)
Barret Jones C/G (anything is an upgrade over Crayola)
Khaseem Greene OLB (would have started at olb)
Khaled Holmes C (anything is an upgrade over Crayola)
William Gholston DE
Jonathon Franklin RB

Not taking Franklin when we have Bush
You don't know any of those rookie centers are better than a vet Raiola
We got Ansah and Taylor at DE just fine.

Greene I like but again, unknown compared to Whitehead and Whitehead has a year in the Lions system.

I can agree with all of those except Gholston. High potential, far too many question marks about work ethic, health, and character.

I was praying to see some of these names called by the Lions during draft weekend, especially Holmes, Greene, Jones, and Schwenke... just didn't happen.

The one he listed were 2012. We didn't have Bush, or Ansah or Taylor.

We didn't trade up. We basically used the 4th a year early to get that EXTRA 5th. We used the Lions 5th on Greenwood. LB with a year in the system over a rookie LB. And they traded down in the 4th(Ronnel Lewis) to pick up an EXTRA 6th to get Jonte Green.

Don't care who steps up. Between Palmer, Lewis and Whitehead they got it covered. It will be either great job using the waiver wire by Mayhew in 2010, great job using a future pick or great job using a 7th round pick by Mayhew.

shitty job. Jenkins or khaseem greene would have been better than all of them. Lost value. Cant keep losing value in drafts like mayhew does and become a successful GM.
