Lions signed DE Israel Idonije

I think Leshoure was still really hindered by the achilles because he looked awfully tentative. He made some very illusive plays but not the acceleration which if you look at other players returning from this injury thats where they are most effected. I believe he will be more explosive this year but if he isnt then they need to sit him.

This. He constantly tried to put moves on guys and just wasn't able to run away. Probably would have been better served running into them.

It wasn't all how the blocking was, Leshoure ran like shit too. Its pretty obvious he has no talent his injury held him back badly. Even when he got into open field he never did anything one time. Thats sad.

And other running backs have had more success and ran off explosive plays behind the same O-line. Best most notably, but even Bell last year was better and averaged more yards than Leshoure. But its the O-line?

Leshoure is coming off a major injury to his achilles. Its a two year injury for most. Im not saying the kid shoukd be a beast but this injury was huge. He comes back from the injury and runs decent. Injury, first year on the field, all the while on a throwing team....ummm ya, ill take the 800 yards and a nice handful of TDs all day. He's a nice piece of the trio of RBs we have and should look better this year....

I think he has proven to be at the least a very good goal line back. He has a nose for the endzone and found it when he got his chances. a couple multiple td performances. If he gets his burst back he will be a nice piece to have. He was never going to be AP or Steven Jackson but he will be a decent power back with a little make you miss.

I agree with both of you guys. And that why it was a complete waste of a second round pick. You draft guys like that to put the finishing touches on a good team, especially when you can always grab a second back like that for pennies on the dollar (I think Peyton Hillis is doing appearances signing his copies of Madden at yard sales now or as a better example Bell who is actually a better back hands down anyways). Mayhew sucks ass at drafting outside round 1 the Leshoure debacle is just his latest.

I have to agree with Cheeno. A serviceable back is not okay for a high pick. His injury aside, he went to the perfect team - where you see very few in the box.

I'll give him another chance but if he's not a 1200 yard guy that can move the chain between the 20's he's worthless.

You have already made your mind up on who the better back is between Leshoure and Bell after ONE season? Priceless...

Probably the worst argument against LeShoure yet. So, jrange, you would take both Justin Forsett AND Ben Tate over Arian Foster? Both averaged more YPC than Foster last year, behind THE SAME O-line and had more explosive plays.(most notably Forsetts 81 yarder against Detroit, the Schwartz flag run) no, you wouldn't.....NOBODY would.

Turrble argument.

LeShoure is due his fault in a bad year, but the YPC argument needs to end. LeShoure was asked to run out of a shotgun spread offense, behind a really bad run blocking line and got almost 100% of the goal line carries.....which will lower any backs YPC. If you don't think an online has a MASSIVE impact on a power backs numbers....look up Jerome Bettis with the Rams and then the Steelers.

Look, everyone talks about the injury and maybe they have a point. That's why I say I'll give a little leeway and see what happens in 2013.

And you said you'd take 800 yards and a handful of TDs all day. Your opinion, fine. But, IMO, a high pick should get a hell of a lot more. This wasn't a 4th or 5th round pick. Why shouldn't we expect more for a 2nd round pick?

Run blocking for one in a scheme that doesn't expect the back to make a decision on the cut back(not a zone scheme). It's a power blocking scheme. Either the hole is there or it's not and many times it wasn't. Groin injury during the season as well which is coincidentally or not when his YPC dropped alot. And giving up on him after one year of play is crazy.

Leshoure went where he was supposed to be drafted. It was a late 2nd(not the Lions), an extra 2nd using a mid 3rd/4th.

Now with Bush, Leshoure won't get the carries to be a 1,200 yard back. We want efficiency on probably 100-150 carries, good short yardage, good pass pro and some solid receiving. Leshoure can give us that. And LeShoure has a cheap contract.

Then cut him or trade him and get a WR. If you're going to keep on saying and insinuating no one could run with this OL then why run ever..? Don't ever draft a RB.

We got a better run blocking Oline now. Reiff, Warford and I think Sims and Pettigrew can run block better. Big year for Bush and LeShoure. And don't need to cut him or trade him to get a WR. Plenty of room. I like Calvin, Burleson and Broyles already. We'll see with Fuller

Fuller is raw but has good size and speed. The number of deep balls to beat is 2 by Titus anyway so low bar.

Fuller is headed for the practice squad. Lions looking at Breaston, Laurent "Mr. Concussion" Robinson and Chaz "Don't call me Bono" Schilens. Edwards is almost a lock and they are looking to upgrade for another outside WR.

Fuller is NOT in the picture as of now.

After we win our 6 games I actually hope we draft a WR to be the number 2. Nate is gone soon and Ryan "I'm hurt again" Broyles in the slot.

It would be a silly argument if that was all I based it on. Everyone saw that leshoure had no explosiveness, managing only a long run-if you can call it that- of 16 yards. Bell, in less than half the carries, managed multiple long runs, long being 67 yards. Point being, no team is going to be scared of a RB that can't break a long run against a box that isn't even stacked. I can't even remember how many times leshoure tried to dance around a defender, only to be brought down immediately, where he could have gained 5 more yards.

I expect him to be better this year, after more time for his injury to heal, Achilles is a very serious injury obviously. But I do hope he earns it, as you can't argue bell wasn't better than leshoure last year, no matter how "turrble" you say my argument it.

I dont expect more because he's on a team that chucks the ball all the time. He's supposed to be a bruiser. He's out of his element if you want the truth. Hell, if everyone stays healthy, he's a 6th-7th option on this years team. And you want 1200 yards from this guy?? lol. Smoke another one, Mitch....he's a change of pace back who will spell Bush and flipflop with Bell every now and then.

That makes him a bad pick. Thanks Mayhew..
