Lombardi and others....FIRED

Ink, his drafts have been absolutely horrible. The fact he's had two entire draft classes vanish as well as another one (2012) which is looking to be another flop.

You can't miss on your 2nd round pick 95 percent of the time and expect to field a team that's more talented than others. I don't see all of this talent you speak of. Just because they were drafted high doesn't make them good. Where are the guys in the 5th, 6th round that suddenly surprise? The scouting is horrendous.

I see a ton of defensive holes overall. Without Levy, this defense really lacks any playmakers. Other than Big Play Slay, I guess.

I just remembered they took some guy named Alex Carter in the 3rd round last draft. Is he still on the team??

Was injured and on temp IR. Can play starting Week 10. Don't know if he has been practicing.

Saw an article that said he was practicing in full as of his 21st bday, which was earlier this month

so he can play Week 10. Maybe wait until after GB. But most likely they don't replace Mathis and Wilson

After 2 more losses, Carter and Diggs/Lawson should be getting experience

That's a fine line. Play younger guys if the season is lost or play vets to try and save your ass, speaking Caldwell here.

Idk why guys, but I'm actually excited to watch the Lions this weekend. The Lombardi firing actually made me want to watch football the rest of the year. Wish Caldwell was gone too, but either way, it was a step that I was beginning to doubt would happen this year.

As they as they don't sign Jim Bob to an extension based on one game. Btw, 2 years in a row that the London game is considered a road game. The NFL loves Detroit..

All three of them should be getting some time, I agree. If Carter was brought here as Mathis' future replacement, the future is now. Let him take his lumps

It's just payback for the botched calls and terrible officials they have officiate our games.

My take on the talent on this team:

Offense:
Stafford - hes put up sub par outings for way too long for me to think hes worth what he makes. Granted he had the worlds worst OC the last 2 years...but hes been bad. The offense is currently ranked 29th in the league. We continue to do dumb shit all the time when it comes to simple execution. We don't run well vs 6 man fronts and we cant pass for shit vs an 8 man box. Its dumb....which is pretty much proof hes middle of the road.

WR- Calvin and Tate are probably the most talented duo in the league.....which makes the Stafford comments even more pathedic.

RB- Abdullah has all the talent in the world but cant hang onto the ball. Riddick would be one of my favorite backs in the league but the Lions fail to use him consistently and when they do use him its predictable. Riccick is in...here comes a HB fake to the flat and circle underneath the LBs! Joique sucks and is injured.

TE- Ebron is producing in Tates bitter absence. Hes a decent 3rd option when he decides to not let the ball bounce off his hands. Cant block worth a lick. Isnt worth a top 10 pick....ever.

OL - Reiff is decent. Warford is good. Laken has potential...I guess....maybe. Samsonite blows. Toilet paper would hold up better than our revolving personnel of shit at RT.

Defense:
DLine - Everyone sucks except Ansah. Everyone.

LB - Everyone sucks except Levy who has no hip. Tulloch is done.

CB - Slay is Houston v 2.0....good #2 but we need a stud corner that can take away half the field. Slay will never be that. Mathis is done.

S- Do we even have safeties? If so, what do they do all game? I don't think I ever hear their names called.

Management:

Mayhew blows. He sucks at drafting, he sucks at signing FAs, he sucks at helping manage the cap, he sucks at planning ahead, he sucks at hiring coaches, he sucks at signing coaches to an extension then wanting to fire them a year later, he sucks at signing qbs to extensions, he sucks with the media, he sucks at addressing concerns his fanbase has, he sucks at having a database. Hes good at recruiting on Youtube.

wait...about 7 weeks ago someone here said this team was holeless...super bowl caliber.

BTW...I agree with just about everything you said!

Solid.

Can't argue with any of that except I don't think Reiff is any good.

Reiff is a tween-er IMO. I think if we can draft a good LT, if there are any.. Reiff could be solid at RT. Really solid.

Stafford, Quin, Levy,Slay,Warford, Reiff,Tate are all good players that regressed this year. Ansah is a beast. Calvin is still a beast but gets screwed by the circumstances. They just aren't playing like it this year other than Ansah and Calvin. They all played much better in 2014. Ngata is very good too but was hurt and hindered development. If we replayed the season plus Levy, these guys could all play much better. And they will have to in 2016. No way around it. The good news is, one bad season doesn't mean always bad. Slay, Quin, Stafford, Warford, Tate better dig deep. The Lions will need them back to 2014 form.

Walker was solid but took a cheap shot by Sweezy. And the Oline and run game make it way worse for Stafford. Waddle regressed big time after injury too. He used to be solid. Bell again injuries.

Laken and Swanson are young and were thrown in quickly. They must develop and be solid at least next year. Laken better be good for a 1st rounder. They have the vet center in Ramirez to avoid the Swanson mess but don't use him now. And couldn't use him when Warford was hurt.

Tulloch is now a 2 down LB after injury but still good against the run. Bynes is good. Levy is great but hurt. Ihedigbo is good against the run but 2014 good coverage was an anomaly apparently. Mathis is finally done. We got 2 good years out of him. Carter got hurt so our development guy behind Mathis doesn't get a chance now. Mathis had some decent games but the Chargers and Vikings game will stick out, especially to the haters. Allen and Diggs are pretty good players though.

Mayhew is the unluckiest GM in the history of the league. Injuries galore (new and returning players not the same) and inherits a team when the entire league has a cap issue (rookies getting big money). the restructures in 2011-2013 had to happen. They had to make the Lions competitive and 2011/2014 playoff teams. They had room for Suh but he chose crazy money. Ngata was a great replacement especially if you looked at the free agents available. But of course he gets hurt. Of fucking course.

And this schedule sucks and the Vikings are a good team now with defensive improvmeent and Peterson back and Diggs emergence (3 games not just Lions game). We scored 17 and 16 in wins against them last year. Defense allowed 26 and 28 this time instead of 3 and 14 like last year.

Caldwell and Mayhew could very well be gone with a 5-11 or worse season. The new guys will have talent to work with, cap space and some extra picks with early picks in the rounds.

The only reason i would want Mayhew gone is get a GM in here that doesn't have the worst luck in the world with injuries. The cap issues have been fixed as the league fixed it.

Yes. That's why you'd want a new GM instead of Mayhew, because he'd get more lucky with injuries.

Congrats on doing a 180 from from your brief period of normalcy to go back to troll mode.

And next year. We play the AFC South and NFC East plus probably (at Bucs or atSaints) and home vs (49ers). Plus Bears twice who we can still beat. We will fuck those teams over even with Giants,Cowboys,Colts,Texans as the away games.

2016 will finally be an easy schedule we deserve.

Mayhew is a good GM. Just the unluckiest man in the world.
