Look at this Gem

3 of 4 years under Mayhew bad luck. 2009 was a rebuild from Millen. 2010 was still part rebuild. I agree they sucked under Millen, 1990s were solid (6 playoffs in 10 years) but had no QB so couldn't win in the playoffs in a strong NFC and they sucked in the 70s/80s(other than Sims years).

I only care about the Mayhew years because Mayhew is a good GM. Anything prior has noting to do with 2014.

Mayhew is on the 25 year plan.

IF mayhew was a good GM we wouldn't suck this bad. He hired shit coaches to coach mediocre talent. Now he has unproven coaches to coach a couple superstars and a bunch of scrubs.

It's like freakin' Red-Nose Reindeer, misfit players. They all gather on this one island.

We don't suck first of all. Very talented team, very competitive team and lose alot of really close games despite massive turnovers from still very good players. Bush,Oline,Tate,Pettigrew are good complements. Same with Tulloch,Quin,Levy,Fairley,Mathis,Houston.

Schwartz was an up and coming D-Cord. He was a hot coaching prospect. He tooks this team to the playoffs in forever and got an extension so he wasn't a lame duck coach. Gunther and Linehan had a ton of experience. Linehan did do good things with this offense but got lazy with correcting turnovers and nepotism with his bad QB coach.

Caldwell has proven things in this league. Lombardi and Austin are good football minds. The old man experience route in Linehan and Gunther didn't work so well so they went with the young up and comers.

You did not prove your point. Everything you said kind of points to... "we do suck"

All the players you mentioned are average players, none elite on any level.

Schwartz was an up and coming D-Cord... but ever established himself as one. He was never a very good head coach either... He was a goodcoach but that's about it, not very good or great, nor elite and never will be. He lacked discipline and it snow balled down to the players. He could coach some D but Mayhew did not give him very much to work with either. He got them to the playoffs but they got smoked on wild-card weekend and HIS D could not stop Lancless Moore Saints team... 626 Yards given up by your up an comer D-Cord piece of crap. Unprepared and major choke. Linehan and Gunther were his coach's... pathetic. Stafford's typical meltdown in big game situation... 2 INT's, got 100 passing yards when game up by 17.

Caldwell is pretty much a Offensive Schwartz. He will fail even worse.

And I apologize to all the good poster's on this board that have to relive the 2011 Post Season brought on by the great Football mind of LKP.

Once again it was injuries that screwed Detroit. Playoffs are a perfect example. Lions were dominating that game then Houston got hurt in the 2nd Quater and Spievey was playing with a concussion starting in the 2nd and Delmas playing hurt a step slow with his knee issue. Plus a terrible call by the refs blowing the whistle on the fumble recovery that was an easy Detroit TD and 21-7 lead late in the 2nd quarter and the terrible allowed block in the back on the 4th and 2 play with Detroit down 24-21. Detroit actually made the stop but the refs screwed them. Game was out of reach before the picks down 10 and 17. And the first pick was the right throw to Young one on one but Young fell down. Not Staffords fault or Schwartz or Linehan.

It used to be the case in the Millen years. It's not the case anymore. We have more or enough talent to match any team in this league.

unless the Lions get injuries like every other team does...then they lose.

Love that comment!

Excellent players don't turn the the ball over at an alarming rate.

Only 12 were Staffords fault. And his has a high number of attempts. The % of ints to attempts is not alarming. Stafford is a very good QB

only 12 lmao.....and all the others that he riffled off of 6'6'' TE/WRs hands inaccurately.

You're bud

But nope not an idiot, I watched the game. It's a fact Spievey played with a concussion and Houston got hurt in the 2nd Quarter. And the refs screwed us twice costing Detroit 14+ points. Detroit really won that game. And Detroit really won Week 17 if not for the refs or beat San Fran (another block in the back on Ginns punt return). We should have played the Giants anyway.

oh weird...another Houston injury excuse. Seems like a reoccurring theme....lets extend him 5 more years!

Watch the tape. To Fauria was one of the 12. Did you see that safety who had the pick 6 is going to be banned for a year for drugs. Cheating Giants

first you say he is excellent and now he is just very good. The truth is he is average. He had 19 but only 12 were his fault? Every QB has some INTs that probably weren't his fault and other passes that should have been picked that weren't. The bottom line is the INT total for each QB in the league is what they each deserve.

Stafford does not deserve 19 picks. It's inflated by 7 that weren't his fault and high attempts. HIs % is fine and he moves the ball well and scores alot of points for the Lions with not much help from turnovers and short fields like other QBS get.

I only give you facts. You guys are the ones that give terrible misinformed opinions.
