Loses by 17+ points plus since 1969

seems like there's been an awful lot of volatility for a consistent competitor particularly one with 0 wins against the buckeyes, 0 wins as an underdog, and 8 & 10 vs. top 25 teams.

in 2016 and 2018 we had very good regular seasons, and the Big Ten East came down to who won in Columbus late in November.

In 2015, but for a bobbled snap on a punt on the last play of the game against MSU it would've been the same story. to me, that's competitive; our coaching put us in position to compete for a conference title.

As of right now, 2017 looks like an aberration; 3 out of 4 seasons under Harbaugh we've been competitive. Hopefully 2019 doesn't go the same way (though I am not hopeful).

Yes, to me that was also a championship day fail-at least for the championship of the state of Michigan.

Blown leads are really frustrating; FWIW they hit a bunch of key passes late, and the defense blew it.

As discombobulated and impotent as our offense was that year (2017), at least they got us a lead that game.

Higdon's fumble was the turning point. 26-3, and it's ballgame.

Don't forget Metellus dropping a sure pick 6 and OSU scoring on the next play in 2017. Otherwise it's at least one win against OSU. I won't even mention the spot in Columbus.

They've been in position to win and they can't ever close.

they also cheat.

Yep. 2016 remember that they had an open OSU fan that officiated a game in Columbus. I'm sure it was just a coincidence that our receivers were being mugged the entire game and drew no flags whereas our dbs were flagged multiple times. I distinctly remember Darboh being dragged down on a slant on 3rd down before the ball even left the qbs hand and not long after one of our dbs getting flagged for PI on a ball that was 20 feet over the receiver's head. The B1G even issued a statement saying that there was an "egregious" missed PI and a missed personal foul on scumbag Mike Weber.

To me there?s any doubt it was the refs that won that game.

If ever there was a game that was decided by the officials, this was it. A game that went to 2 overtimes and should have been won by Michigan in regulation. It should never have gotten to the point where "the spot" was an issue.

And I'm sure that people will say "gotta win in spite of it" but when your receivers can get tackled at the line of scrimmage with impunity and the other team is getting an automatic first down on every incomplete pass it's literally impossible to win.

Yep! I agree. That?s exactly what happened.

Pick six TD and not stopping OSUs final FG-drive didn't help all that much. Especially since OSU was on its own 12 with second and 16.

I'm talking more generally; they also took cheating to the "next level," beginning with Jim Tressel.

compare OSU's record pre-2002 and post-2002.

they've improved but to be competing they have to do more than beat the teams your supposed to beat and have a chance in late November. They have to be better than sub .500 against ranked teams and not get blanked by your chief rival with 2 blow out losses. they have to be on a level near OSU and they're not.

So now in order to be a consistent competitor, we need to be "on a level near OSU"... okay, whatever.

Hate to beat a dead horse, but yes.

The play before the spot was probably the worst one for me. Samuels was caught 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage, ran around, then you see an OSU guy grab a MIchigan player's facemask and twist his head around like in the movies of someone breaking someone's neck. Should've been a 15 yard penalty from the spot of the foul, which would've backed OSU up to a 3rd and forever.

and not be sub .500 against ranked teams, not have big swings in competitiveness like '16 to '17 to '18 and now '19. a win as an underdog would be nice too. basically, you have to be competitive more consistently than youve been.

Honest question. Are you more mad about the fact there was a face mask, compared to the fact they had him pinned for a five yard loss and forgot how to pursue?

What is Purer Michigan than to see you guys bitching about the refs a couple years and a couple of beatings after the fact? Every time I grow weary of this site I come across stuff like this and realize it?s still too good to quit.
