Get StartedExactly. If this pans out, the Lions got a starting caliber tackle in the 7th round. There is no room for him on this team at te anyway. Why the hell is anyone even questioning this move, is Oline depth a bad thing?
That's the point, at TE as a good blocker he had some usefulness..I would think. He'd be closer to getting into a game over a T, a new position, because there are too many players in front of him. That's if he even makes the team.
I also don't get the "if he fails he was just a 7th round pick so no loss." It just seems we have more than enough backup T's.
Did you forget where you're at? lol. The board doom and gloomers will find anything to bitch about. 7TH RD DRAFT PICK. That's all that needs to be said.
Mayhew. What an asshole ....derpderpderpington.
You don't get it? What don't you get?
Here it is in a nutshell......and i'm purely speculating, but it might be all too obvious.
1. Williams is a beast of a man. A pure BLOCKING TE. A GOOD blocker too...
2. We have a ton of more than capable TEs on the roster...no need for another one...
3. They obviously like the kid and think he's possibly worthy of a roster spot. Let's switch him to a Tackle and see if it pans out
4. If it doesn't work, you show him the door because he's a 7TH ROUND PICK. You can afford to lose him financially and if he isn't talented enough.....so what?
5. You can NEVER have enough OLine depth....
Coming from LKP lite..That's a laugh riot.
A pure blocking TE let's switch him to T, a new position. Grand..we also have enough T's, in fact we signed a UFA for 20k. We don't need another T why not keep him where he's already good at..what a schmuck.
Oh and now blocking TE's one on one with a DE, much harder than helping out..you make it sounds like a TE and T are one in the same..Tony, there's gotta be a book NFL for dummies, find and read it..
He might be good enough to make the switch though. You're upset over this? Of course you are, you're a complete fn moron who has no idea what he's talking about.
How do you know we don't need another Tackle? lol. Did you really say that? Wtf? Ever hear of depth? Something you dummies constantly nag about? Injuries, players getting released all factors into these decisions. Besides, they're kicking the tires on this switch. Stop making a story out of it when people won't even care unless he makes the team....holy shit lol.
I don't care about any of that but you constantly it's no biggee it's just a 7th cracks me up..you draft a guy in the 7th and switch positions because he's fat? That's the HC reason, he can't keep the weight down so let's move him where all the fat guys go..lol.
You don't care about what?! lol.
They like the kid's blocking that they're willing to move him to the OLine. He's a big dude, fat, whatever you want to call him. Makes no difference. If he can make the team, BONUS. What's the problem? You're the only guy losing it over a 7th rd pick....lol.
They're obviously moving him too because they're loaded at the TE position. Still confused? Yeah, i know.....
I don't think I am. And it could have been a 4th round pick and everything would be rosy to you..loaded at T too. Teams usually don't keep 5.
this is whatever....not noteworthy news and doesn't even deserve a thread of its own. In reality Ebron should be our receiving TE, Williams could have been brought in as a blocking TE, and Pettigrew shouldn't have been resigned. But mayhew jacked that up....so plan B is tell Williams to gain a bunch of weight and ride the pine....probably ends up on the PS.
So you'd rather have Williams over Pettigrew?
One in the same? Are you retarded? lol. I never said this kid was the next Johnathan Ogden. They're experimenting with the kid because they obviously like him and think he has "some" talent.
I know this shit is hard for you to understand, but you are the biggest idiot when it comes to talking football. My God, you need to stay on the Tigers board...you're a fn embarrassment.
its hindsight for sure. but if I knew we were getting ebron I would have spent pettigrews money elsewhere. Never really thought we should have resigned Pettigrew in the first place but then again....im one of the guys on the board that feels he hasn't lived up to his first rd pick status. A blocking TE that catches the ball and falls down....ya....ive seen Williams do that at Alabama just fine.
geezus, thanks Tony...
