Michael Williams moving to Tackle

What is pettigrews contract like for next year? I thought he was front loaded this year.

One in the same? Are you retarded? lol. I never said this kid was the next Johnathan Ogden. They're experimenting with the kid because they obviously like him and think he has "some" talent.

I know this shit is hard for you to understand, but you are the biggest idiot when it comes to talking football. My God, you need to stay on the Tigers board...you're a fn embarrassment.

I wholeheartedly second this. You said it yourself you dislike and don't watch college football at all which makes your draft opinions and most player assessments mean 0. Sometimes I think you purposely act dumb to get a reaction, but then I realize you just don't know anything about the game of football, especially after reading this thread. And you for sure have a big opinion on an article you probably didn't read because you said the reason they moved him because he was fat when in the article it clearly says he's just a big man and only weighs about 278 pounds at 6' 6" which perfect size for a DE. Would you say most defensive ends are "fat"? I don't think so, and he is going to pack on more weight the right way aka muscle. Save us all the headache and stick with the Tigers talk.

No details but pretty sure most of the guaranteed money is paid this year, so if we want to cut him the number should be very doable. Not too sure on numbers though.

the guy wouldn't make the roster as a TE, so now he is getting a chance to make the roster at a different position he may or may not excel at, bottom line its not going to hurt anything to try.
with that being said, since we are running basically the same O as NO, and everything I have read indicates Williams is athletic for big guy, why not move him to FB? I know we grabbed Collins from NO, but I think Williams would be really great there

Jason Peters made the switch from TE to tackle as a pro. 5 time all pro left tackle.

The move makes alot of sense.

the move will make a lot of sense if we turn a 7th rd TE into a tackle that actually makes the roster, plays in games and maybe even eventually makes it to 5 pro bowls like peters did. Right now the move....is just a move....that probably lands him on the PS. It doesn't make sense and it doesn't make no sense...it just is what it is...a move that doesn't really mean anything.

It makes sense. Why waste him at te. It makes sense right now. Even if he becomes a good third or fourth tackle it's a good move. It's genius if he is a good tackle like peters

would have made more sense to have ebron, fauria, Williams at TE and not resigned Pettigrew imo.

You guys realize that we can still line him up as a blocking TE, right? Coaches put athletic tackles in those positions all the time when the situation calls for it. He won't be a pass catcher, but he never really would. Basically, this move is pushing him to be more of a blocker, allowing him to get bigger since he doesn't have to run routes anymore.

It's sad that the people on here need to be told this, but they do. It changes NOTHING except he's going to wear a different number. If he makes the team, he can still be used in goal line and short yardage situations outside the tackle.....the EXACT same spot he'd line up at as a TE. He can still report and catch a PA pass. He wasn't going to line up outside anyway, so this just gives him a better chance to make the team and possibly contribute.

Stop using common sense Monster.....it might as well be Chinese to some of the people on this board.

Reiff did it his rookie year.

Goal line and short yardage situations would be the only packages he would have been on the field for this year anyway, more than likely.

So, like you said, this changes NOTHING in 2014 but his jersey number.

I like Michael Williams and though he could do everything Pettidrop could do in this offense, including being an upgrade at blocking. Guess we'll never know.

Williams is nowhere near the same caliber of talent at the TE spot. Cmon, dude..lol

tell me 1 thing Pettigrew can do that Williams cant? I bet you cant come up with 1 lol...

You serious? lol. I'll bet he's faster, runs better routes, in better shape, has better hands and is a better blocker than Williams. I'd put money on it.

I get the hate for Pettigrew to some degree, but to think Williams is just as good or better that Grew is a frickin joke. Get real.....
