DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

Several days ago, Miguel Cabrera revealed that he?d like to stay in baseball, preferably with the Tigers, when he retires from playing. After this year, he has 1 more year on his contract before Detroit buys out his option for both 2024 and 2025.

Under the Hinch era, Miggy has noticeably changed his demeanor which has not gone unnoticed throughout the baseball world. He has taken on a more visible role in mentoring the younger players and coaching others on their hitting.
He has become more approachable and a positive influence in the clubhouse.
A far cry from earlier years in which he reluctantly participated in bonding with his teammates.

Cabrera also took on a bigger role in partnering with the Front Office as they looked to sign free agents. Miggy had conversations with almost everyone of interest to discuss what it was like playing for the Tigers and why they should want to come. Several players admitted that Miggy?s ?sell? convinced them to sign with Detroit.

After next year, where should Cabrera go within the organization if the Tigers are interested in keeping him? Should he stay at the MLB level and work with the Front Office or as an assistant hitting coach as he learns his new role?

Or would he best serve the organization within the minor league system and new Player Development department as a hitting instructor for either AAA or as a regional one who works with several different levels?

Today?s blog addresses this dilemma and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with other by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!

For this one blog only, you?ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts.
Of course, you can respond to as many other readers as you want.

TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.

What job would be the best fit for Miguel Cabrera?

1. Working for the Front Office.

2. A regional hitting coach in the minors.

3. As an assistant hitting coach in Detroit.

Miggy in another special club: 600 2Bs, 500 HRs, 3,000 hits.

Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera made even more history on Saturday at Minute Maid Park. With one out in the top of the second inning, Cabrera pulled a 79.5 mph curveball from Astros starter Framber Valdez down the left-field line, plating the game's first two runs to put Detroit in front.

It was the 600th career double for Detroit's DH, making Cabrera one of only three players in MLB history to have 3,000+ career hits, 600+ doubles and 500+ home runs. He joins Hank Aaron and Albert Pujols in that elite tier.

When two runs scored on Cabrera's latest milestone hit, he passed Frank Robinson for No. 21 on the all-time RBI list with 1,813.

Combining doubles, triples, and home runs, Cabrera now has 1,120 career extra-base hits -- allowing him to pass George Brett for No. 18 on that all-time list. He is two behind Manny Ramirez (1,122) for No. 17 in extra-base hits.

Cabrera is just the 18th MLB player with 600 or more career doubles, and his next double (601) will tie him with Barry Bonds at No. 17 in doubles. Moreover, with 3,009 total hits, Cabrera's next hit of any kind (3,010) will tie Wade Boggs for No. 30 on the all-time hits list.
