SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers offense is at a historic low with the team sitting in last place in almost every major hitting category. With other teams making changes to their hitting staffs, there are increasing reports that the Tigers need to do the same.

In yesterday?s blog, Miguel Cabrera?s name came up as a possible candidate. Not as a full hitting coach right away, but to officially take on some responsibility in helping coach his teammates. That he is now solely a DH and not a position player would more easily facilitate a move like this.

https://totallytigers.wordpress.com/2022/06/09/five-for-friday-29/

Over the most recent years, Miggy has been asked by others on the team to watch them hit and provide feedback. Several players have publicly stated how he has helped them improve.

In conjunction with this, Cabrera has said that he wants to stay with the Tigers after retiring and become a coach.

Should the Tigers appoint Miguel Cabrera as an official hitting coach for the team?

1. Yes, make him an assistant hitting coach.

2. Yes, but wait until he retires.

3. No, hire a professional coach.

Congratulations Miguel Cabrera for all of your accomplishments!

Miguel Cabrera has 1827 career RBI.
21st all time.
He is within 17 of 14th place Yazstrzemski, with Al Simmons, Ted Williams, Winfield, Palmiero and Griffey Jr in between.
33 shy of #13 Mel Ott
82 behind #12 Willie Mays
100 more RBI would put him 10th just behind #9 Ty Cobb (1944).

Miguel Cabrera has 505 career home runs.
27th all time in MLB.
Next up:
26. Sheffield 509
25. Ott 511
24. Mathews 512
23. Banks 512
22. T Williams 521
21. F Thomas 521
20. McCovey 521
19. Foxx 534

Seems like top 20 is a reasonable projection for Cabrera in HR and Hits.

27th all time hits now after a single in game 71 of 2022 for Miggy, tied up with Rod Carew with 3,053 hits. Next is Rickey Henderson with 3,055 if stays healthy rest of year I'd put his current projection at finishing out the year with around 3,110-3,120 and he'll pass 5 more players yet and end the year right up in there just above or below Winfield and Rodriquez Top 20 next year.

20. Robin Yount 3142
21. Tony Gwynn 3141
22. Alex Rodriguez 3115
23. Dave Winfield 3110
24. Ichiro Suzuki 3089
25. Craig Biggio 3060
26. Rickey Henderson 3055
27. Miguel Cabrera 3053
27. Rod Carew 3053
