Mortensen reporting Suh to Dolphins

yes, and chooses not to.

Not true.

Mayhew did NOT need to file tampering charges. Charging tampering is when a team alerts the NFL to an issue it would not otherwise know about.

In this case the NFL is already investigating, and in fact, alerted the Lions to the problem. The Lions did not need to file any tampering charges, and in fact doing so would have made them look petty to other teams, given the investigation was already underway before they were even alerted to the issue.

The NFL has full authority to punish the Dolphins. The Lions simple aren't being little bitches here, unlike the Jets filing tampering charges over Revis.

For once, in no way did Mayhew screw up, and any statement that he did is total horseshit.

He screwed up when he couldn't resign suh. The fact he doesnt file is just plain dumb. Its ok when we got charged for it....

To be fair, Goff came into a fairly good situation with a solid supporting cast. The Rams built their team right and the Lions did what the Lions usually do.

Stafford took over an 0-16 team on day one with a sketchy o-line (who nearly got him killed a couple times and somewhat derailed the start of his career) and a non-existent running game. I tried to come up with the five most talented skill players surrounding Stafford on offense during Suh's time and had trouble even completing the list...

Calvin (obviously)
Tate (one year only - 2014)
Bush?
Burleson?
......uhhhh....Pettigrew? Kevin Smith? Best?

If we're comparing mechanics or game management or leadership, fine whatever, but anyone looking at the numbers has to be aware of all the supporting factors. I know Suh didn't expand upon the few words he said on instagram and it probably looks good to support your QB like that, but I just wanted to throw out there that any comparison will have to go beyond the numbers.

Goff has great offensive coaches. Matt not so much.

Stafford has proven that he is an above average to good QB. As of now, it looks like Goff might be great. Time will tell.

As far as Suh saying that Goff is the best QB he has ever played with...he has only played 4 games with him. But, in those 4 games...Goff has been outstanding.

I have no problem with Suh standing up for his QB. I truly don?t care. Also, Goff has the best OC in football, McVey, who helps a bit.

I look at it this way, if you put Goff on the Lions and had Jim Bob Cooter calling the plays do you think he would be as good?

would he put up the numbers that he does in LA...no, as good as Stafford, yes...probably better.

Based on that Thursday night game (yes, I know it was only one game), I can't say Suh is wrong. Can't say he is right. But having a great OC or not, Goff was dropping in passes with such precision to guys it was impressive. There were completions to guys on plays we would be bitching on how bad JBC is because nobody gets open and no QB could fit it in that tight of a window.

Also, lets not forget how poor of a job Stafford did playing QB in Suh's last 3 years. Stafford's stat line those final 3 years:
1169/1963, 59.6%, 13,874 yards, 71 TDs, 48 Ints, 83.0 Rating.

just for fun...if you took Goffs 4 games with Suh and put those in to 3 seasons (Full disclosure I don't expect him to perform this well over 3 seasons, this is only for reference). Goff's stat line would read:
1164/1608, 72.4%, 16,872 Yards, 132 TDs, 24 Ints, 127.3 Rating.

Maybe this doesn't matter much but I was looking at Tate's stats a bit he's a normal 90+ catch guy but last year he had 28 target throws he didn't catch 76.7%.. This season he already has 16 - 63.6%. He's averaging more targets so far but 16 in 4 games seems like a lot.

well...you are kind of a Stafford homer, so...

Of course, I could be wrong too. Goff could be a 2-year wonder and suck the rest of his career.

I might be. I won?t deny that, really. I?ll put it like this....I claim to be a ?realist? like Hughes.....except my reality is based on more factors. I just don?t think guys like Goff and Mahomes would have Staffords numbers in THIS offense.

You think Matt would have those numbers in LA & KC? It's really hard to compare but Matt can make throws but to my liking he misses to many on the top side or when guys are completely open. Regardless of his completion % vs Dallas. I remember people complaining about are last OC. And JBC was getting much praise when he took over and now he's dog shit like our last guy.. We have a good 1-2 punch at WR, a promising young RB and shit load of picks on the OL. Maybe it's the QB.

Why not?

Lions this year have probably a top 5 pass protection line. Arguably the best YAC WR in the game as your #3 WR. One of the better contested ball deep threats in Marvin Jones. A rising star in Golladay. Top 10 YPC running game.

Yes a shitty defense..but we just needed more to help out Matt. Time to carry that load.

Maybe the Lions would have a different offense if they had these QBs, instead of JBC's vanilla offense they installed to limit Stafford's mistakes ;)

I think that?s just JBC?s offense. Based more on YAC than downfield throws. That?s why Tate fits the offense so well.

Stafford also did pretty well in Linehans offense, which was more of a vertical passing scheme. Problem was we simply didn?t have the players, besides CJ, to do it well.

I?d like to see the more mature Stafford in a vertical concept offense. Golladay and Jones would be really nice pieces in that offense with Tate still running the underneath and crossing routes. We would need a faster TE to run the seam routes....because we just dumped ours....but that?s another topic.
