Mortensen reporting Suh to Dolphins

Eh, that's a minor footnote on this. They wouldn't get anything out of it. Tampering is the name of the game, it's how stuff gets done in sports.

Tampering may be the status quo, but getting every advantage is how teams get ahead. The Pat may not have even beaten the Ravens without pushing the rules. The won a championship as a result. If Mayhew doesn't have the balls or capacity to file what appears to be an easy tampering claim, he's giving up an opportunity to get an advantage. Even if the best it results in is trading late round picks, that's still better than nothing.

It takes 5 minutes of googling to have enough evidence to make a tampering claim. Mayhew is supposed to be running this team, but he can't even do that?

Suppose it couldn't hurt, but I just don't see anything resulting from it.

Theres actually something very LEGALLY wrong with tampering and it can be taken to courts. The NFL should make an example that they aren't going to stand for it any longer....they've had enough legal issues and they can nip this on in the bud very quickly. But they are probably too stupid to do that....and mayhew is obviously too stupid to push for it.

The problem is that we are the Lions. If this was the Packers/Patriots/Cowboys then something would be done immediately. But until something negative happens to the favorite teams, nothing changes. I'm not saying it is right but it is reality.

Mayhew should see this through...not doing so, to me, kind of proves he had no interest in resigning Suh. It also proves he has no interest in winning a slam-dunk case. Even if the return is small, it's still a return,

honestly....force mortenson to snitch on his source who obviously had the EXACT contract numbers prior to free agency opening. You aren't allowed to discuss contract details prior to FA opening. Open/shut case....heres your draft pick lions!

Mayhew: "pshhhh I don't need no stinking draft picks."

The whole Lions conspiracy thing is bull. The league may care less about us because we aren't a marquee franchise, but that has almost nothing to do with this. The Lions have to be the one that initiates the claim. The league doesn't step in without a claim unless someone runs a damning story about it in the news.

If we aren't filing a claim, it's because Mayhew is an idiot or is afraid of some other repercussion befalling the Lions. There's really no other reason not to. The evidence is right there.

Exactly...the evidence is right there...Mayhew needs to step up.

If dumbass Woody Johnson can cry Foul for what Craft said about Revis on Monday (and Johnson did a ton more tampering in December) then Mayhew needs to make an issue of this.

Personal opinion -- Mayhew doesn't want it to come out that he insulted Suh with a smaller deal than the recently published 102M, 58M guaranteed. Bet that offer was after the Dolphins offer was known by Det's front office.

lmao.....it never ends!!!

yes, and chooses not to.

Say he files tampering charges (I actually thought they would), what do we get out of it you think? I`m not too familiar with the process. Do teams swap picks? Just asking a legitimate question here...

That's what happened before..I forget which teams. Though with the way it sounded with the NFL being as upset as it is, some thought it'd be a bigger punishment this time..

Maybe the league said there is no need to file because they are pissed about it. Maybe Mayhew is an idiot. Who knows? If nothing happens by the draft then nothing will probably come of it. Same thing with deflategate, I think the league just waits until things die down.

I think its one of those Goodell fly by the seat type of things. But....with that said he did warn teams prior to FA this year. And serious legal repercussions can potentially come of it from what I read which can cost the NFL a lot of $$$. Youd think Goodell would want to make an example...but its the lions and suh so he probably doesn't give 2 shits.
