Mortensen reporting Suh to Dolphins

Lions wouldn't have had to sacrifice this year especially. Suh long term and Tulloch/Jones were still staying. Ngata actually has a higher cap number than Suh this year.

And they are losing Charles Clay possibly.

2016, then Tulloch is older and Pettigrew is gone. Again, no sacrifice on the Lions end. Dolphins losing Wallace and Ellerbe and Wheeler and Hartline and Gibson is a sacrifice.

You can try and convince your self along with others all you want but the truth is any team paying over $100mil to a defensive player is going to have to make sacrifices.

Not the Lions in terms of cuts. Lions are in better cap shape with Suh than the Dolphins are.

Including the Lions...The fact of the matter is our cap shape and all the restructures we've done are the reason we don't have Suh. You can say this and say that but the fact is are cap management is the reason why Suh took his talents to South Beach.

Our cap was fine for Suh. Suh just wanted 19 per. Lions could have paid that. They chose to not overpay. Them chosing not to overpay had nothing to do with that.

Those restrucutres got us good players. Miami is subtracing players. We are keeping Tulloch, Quin and Levy (Suh restructure guys).

The reason we dont have Suh is you cant pay a DT 19 mil with a salary cap. You just cant pay that much. he is dominate for a DT but that position isnt worth near that much. Suh counts almost 30 mil next year for the Dolphins. The dolphins front loaded his deal knowing the Lions wouldnt. My guess is when the Dolphins cut Suh in 3-4 years they will wns up eating 20-30 million. Because there is no way he will see the end of that deal.

I 100% disagree.

Partially.

You are right about the restructures.....though I think they were necessary...they are the reason Suh didn't get franchised.

However, I do not for one second think Suh had any interest in being a Lion. Not because of the cap situation.....not the fans......teammates.....coaches......management.....none of it. IMO.....he was out of the D the second the Cowboys game ended. He has shown ZERO signs he wanted to stay. Shit......2 years ago his sister was already counting the days before he would be out of his contract.

He isn't wearing Honolulu blue because he didn't want to, not because of the cap.

Exactly.

It's going to have to be restructured NEXT year......or his cap hit will be almost $30M!!!
The Dolphins sold their soul on his deal.

It wasn't a cap problem. It was a Suh wants to be way overpaid problem. Lions could have done that and kept the rest of the team together. They chose not too.

Suh might have a small cap this season but next year it's freaking' huge. They'll probably do what Detroit did, restructure next season and future years get big and pushed out further.. Unless you're a top QB no one wins when spending 114m on one guy.. that's just too much.

But you could franchise him, a year now to maybe trade himand another year to transition new players in. Losing 3 DT at once is not easy to replace in a year.

We have Ngata. I like that Walker add too. Jones can play DT some. Reid in year 2. We still have a year to transition a rookie DT in.

Actually you'll have 4 months.. Draft until season.

With Ngata, Walker, Jones and Reid playing a ton, less reliance on a rookie than you think. Rookie DTs can come in and be studs too. We are set either way.

But it's not as good as Suh,, Fairly, Mosely, Reid. I'm okay with it just not as good-

No they aren't. If they were set, they wouldn't have drafted a bunch of D linemen the past few years and still have it be one of the weaker positions.

This.

If they draft a DT in Rd.1 (Malcom Brown, please).....I'm fine with the rotation. But it's still a drop in talent no matter what.

If not, Ngata and a bunch of retards I wouldn't trust with a potato gun are not "set" at the position.

It's not weak. Ngata, Ansah, Jones, Walker is strong. Good DE depth too.

Ok cool. No excuse from you for any drop off in 2015.

Ngata and Ansah and Jones healthy like 2014. Walker can get hurt half the year since Fairley got hurt. And Reid or the rookie can miss a game in London for smoking.
