Mortensen reporting Suh to Dolphins

Yeah sure. He loved it so much that he had wouldn't sign here for only 17/yr and 58 guarantee? Though I don't really by that Mayhew offered that..

I like this team, but I like tens of millions of dollars more.

Yeah.. no shit. I would too.

I'm a life long Lions fan. It would have been a DREAM for me to play for the Lions. But for $12MM extra bucks... It would have been a DREAM for me to play in Miami.

It's easy for people who would kill themselves to play on a minimum deal to criticize chasing millions of dollars, but in all reality, and of us would have.

But he's a millionaire regeardless. He took more money to play on a worse team IMO. He chose money over winning and it's not even debatable. Also, his family never wanted to stay in Detroit, especially his sister.

It was pretty obvious he wasn't going to play for a winner. Winners don't pay players that much money.. not a DT anyway.

I don't even see it as that much of a difference, not like the Dolphins are bottom feeders every year, and the Lions certainly aren't on the cusp of greatness.

Let's not act like he picked the Jaguars over the Patriots.

I would have taken the paycut to NOT live in Florida, personally. I never want to go there again. Ever.

I'm not sure if the Dolphins are that much worse. Their offense put up significantly more points than Detroits did, led by a QB that was better than Lions QB.

Place where they struggled was run defense, Suh will be a big fix towards the run defense.

Both Miami and Detroit are in a division with one great team and two other teams that are nothing impressive. Talent wise I think it is a lateral move. Although strictly talent speaking Miami will be hurt with the loss of Wallace.

I mean is it hard to believe that Miami with Suh will have a better defense than the Lions without Suh? I don't think so.

Miami lost to the Lions by 4 points at Ford Field. They aren't that bad of a team. Didn't they almost beat GB too? Suh might put them over the top. I doubt it, but it's possible. And yeah, Tannehill> Stafford

The question is more about them keeping their talent in 2016 when Suh's cap number jumps to 2018.

Just two weeks ago you were talking about how we could make it work with Suh's cap number along with Calvin and Stafford. Matter of fact you were saying we would have PLENTY of cap room to franchise him. Now you're questioning if Miami can keep their talent? What sense are you making brotha?

We could make it work. Miami is tight now and have to pay Tannehill among others. Lions have a more complete team than Miami already too. Lions also wouldn't have given Suh a 28 million year 2 cap number like Miami did.

$28mil cap hit year two was smart by Miami. Get his guaranteed dollars out the way early. They're not a proven NE or GB organization so I'm not sure if they will make it work. But I will say, if Lions could of made it work, Miami could too.

Miami traded Wallace, traded Ellerbe and cut Wheeler/Finnegan. It's already a purge and Suh's year 1 cap hit is only 6 million.

Wallace didn't work out. He was a cancer there. Probably gone with or w/o Suh.

Ellerbe brought in Kenny Stills. Are you really questioning that decision?

Finnegan is retired.

But you're right, when you sign a player of Suh's caliber, you're going to have to sacrifice. Just like the Lions would of done. Nobody is questioning that. Miami made a splashy signing with Suh now pressure is on management to make it work. Just like it would of been in Detroit.

Lions wouldn't have had to sacrifice this year especially. Suh long term and Tulloch/Jones were still staying. Ngata actually has a higher cap number than Suh this year.

And they are losing Charles Clay possibly.

2016, then Tulloch is older and Pettigrew is gone. Again, no sacrifice on the Lions end. Dolphins losing Wallace and Ellerbe and Wheeler and Hartline and Gibson is a sacrifice.
