You need to realize Stafford is average. Will he do better with more and more weapons, maybe. But the rest of the team suffers..a rookie LB and a BU safety who is now our starter is not near enough.

I know what Stafford is. He's above average actually. He's put up some pretty damn good numbers with shit to throw to. Now he has some playmakers on the receiving end.

The rest of the team suffers how? Because Dennard or Dix are playing elsewhere? That's comical. Brand new defense, different coaches, different players ....new era. Things gotta look better and they do.

Like it or not, Stafford is the franchise QB and he is gonna be here a while.

He had a huge year and we won 4 games. He had a huge year and we won 7 games. Dunno who said stafford having a huge year would mean were a good team....but he hasn't been watching the lions. Probably lkp...

Good numbers don't necessarily mean consistent. He can't have 25 tds to 6 ints though 8 games then 12 tds to 10 ints over the last 8.

+1. LKP and Tony just don't get it. If the yards were translating to more than 4 or 7 wins for the team they might mean something. When you throw the ball more than any other quarterback in the league, you should have alot of yards. If you don't chances are the team you play for is looking for your replacement.

As hard it is to say I don't believe Tony thinks yards are the be all..end all.

Stafford just needs to be smarter. You know he'll end up with 4500 hundred yards..and 17 INT isn't all that bad, it's the pick 6 and 4th quarter meltdowns..inconsistencies (over throws) that be needs to improve on.

I think he has a huge year because he is working on footwork and the addition of Tate and Ebron. He choked last year plain and simple, irregardless of the weapons around him. I blamed him for his major part in the 2nd half debacle. The secondary and special teams were not addressed in the off season so in theory, he can have a huge year and we still miss the playoffs. Remember, Lions have the history of doing this. So I am not being a hypocrite.

Not sure if yards are as empty as you guys make them out to be. The top 7 YPG teams in the NFL all made the playoffs, and 8th (Chicago) lost a play-in game against GB. Maybe it's just coincidental from last season, but those teams clearly could move the ball and it played into them getting into the post-season.

Yards are first downs and long drives. Teams don't just get yards, you have to keep converting. Stafford has attempts because he is the offense and he converts first downs..

Stafford is good for more than yards. 29 tds is good. 3rd down conversion is good. 3 out of 4 good. And the int rate per attempt for ints that are actually his fault is good.. Ints are like yards, it can be a volume stat.

What about 13 tds and 13 ints, and his Tebow esque completion percentage through the final 8 games? Is that good? Twist that into an excuse, you fucking douche. Stafford is great at not getting this team to the next level. That is all he's proven thus far in his career
