New Batting Order?

A good sense with Miggy hitting with none on and 2 outs before yesterday was a harder pill to swallow simply because Victor was not the type of hitter that could make a team pay for maybe pitching around Miggy with 2 outs and none on since he wasn't a real threat to put one over the fences. You were then looking at the Tigers having to get hits from 2 straight hitters in order to drive in Miggy from 1st with 2 outs. (Not to easy of a task)

However that now all changes with the addition of Prince since Miggy getting on 1st with 2 outs either via a walk or single basically just gives Prince a chance to swing for the fence for a nice 2 out 2 run HR which is something we didn't have last season with VMart protecting Miggy thus him hitting in the 3 hole wasn't as viable.

maybe someone can explain this to me....

why wouldn't cabrera hit third? Personally I think miguel is more feared than Fielder and I don't think teams would be terrified to pitch around cabrera if Prince is in the 4 spot. But, I think Prince would see some great pitches hitting 3rd.

I think both are feared hitters. I would have to say the perception is that Fielder is more of a HR threat but Miggy is a better hitter. Either way...both are much more feared that V Mart was just because of the power potential. I don't think you can screw this up....3 & 4 hole are filled with studs either way!

I would like to see Prince bat 3rd, for this reason, Miggy is the better disiplined hitter...

Why do you say that? I haven't watched Prince play much so I don't have any first hand knowledge, but he does walk more than Cabrera and has a better bb/k ratio.

Well, Cabrera does chase less pitches out of the zone than Fielder, but yeah, it's not as if Fielder isn't one of the more patient/disciplined hitters in the game as well.

Mitch[/color]]Miguel is the better hitter. Not a question.

I don't think anybody is questioning that at all.

Other than the roid head in Toronto, nobody has an argument for being over Cabrera, including Pujols.

'Roids or not, no way is the Blue jay better than Miguel.

I don't think he's saying he was, just that the OPS and Slg. arguments could be made for Bautista, plus the HR totals.

Just for last season, career averages for Bautista don't even come close to Miggy.

That's it, one season. And yes I do believe he thinks it.

1 aj
2 peralta
3 cabrera
4 fielder
5 boesch
6 young
7 avila
8 raburn
9 santiago

I'll add this...Leyland is not going to keep changing Prince and Miggy back and forth from the 3 to 4 spot. Once he decides which spot they will hit in then that's where they will stay. Personally, I think he will bat Prince 3rd and Miggy 4th (just a hunch). That's where Miggy has been batting and Leyland's style is not mix things up if he doesn't need to do so...but we'll see.

Well you're wrong, I don't.

But I do understand the argument for him.

You understand the argument Bautista is in the conversation with Miguel? Are you smoking crack?

Over the past two seasons, yeah.

He did have a better year last year, and was terrific the year before as well.

So yeah, there could be an argument for him based on the last two years.

Here's how Leyland anticipates the lineup shaking out:
1. Austin Jackson, CF
2. Brennan Boesch, RF
3. Miguel Cabrera, 3B
4. Prince Fielder, 1B
5. Delmon Young, DH
6. Alex Avila, C
7. Jhonny Peralta, SS
8. Andy Dirks/Don Kelly/Clete Thomas, LF
9. Ryan Raburn, 2B
"It's pretty hard to mess that one up," Leyland said.

2-7 is great. I think the OF defense will be good with those guys out there. Miggy, Peralta, Raburn and Fielder in the infield...that has to be the worst defensive infield in baseball by a mile.
