Pettigrew

Ah yes...ebron.....who ran like a million routes and had like another 14 targets. That ebron?

14 targets for Ebron? Clearly you know nothing about this team. 49 targets on 294 routes. Remember he was hurt 3 games. 3.7 targets per game. This will rise in year 2 as he gets experience.

Ebron is a rookie that started slow. He'll explode this year.

Calvin and Tate deserved and got the most targets. They both had great seasons.

Ebron, number 3 need to improve and Pettigrew needs to be used more.

That's just a complete assumption that he'll suddenly explode. If he showed some signs of progression, that he could get separation, catch balls cleanly, make big plays, I'd agree. He did not get better as the season went along. In fact, he continued to drop passes at the tail end of the year as much as he was in the beginning.

Calvin is entering the last couple years that he's going to be a true superstar. He's going to start tailing off, because that's the nature of the beast.

If this offense doesn't get things figured out soon, it's going to require a complete overhaul.

Ebron did more in the second half of the year. Blocking and receiving. He's got a ton of talent. With another offseason, the highest probability is him exploding. Second highest good starter (500-700 yards). Ebron is just icing on the weapon cake with Calvin and Tate.

Besides the last game, his two biggest games (38, 34 yards lol) were in the beginning of the year.

He's not a blocking TE. That's not his job. That's why they resigned Pettigrew.

Agree with all of this.

Anybody progressing is an assumption, though. It's a complete assumption that any rookie will do well.....nobody ever truly knows until they play the games. I think LKP is just saying that guys usually progress so much mentally in their 2nd year that his head will eventually catch up with his physical gifts and we might get a good player out of Ebron.

Believe me, I don't agree with LKP much....but I also expect a better year out of Ebron. I'll say 700 yards and 6 TD's.

Or, maybe that idiot Lombardi will continue to ignore the TE position and we won't get shit out of any of our TE.......like last year!

Well yeah, I also expect a better year out of him. He set the bar so low, he better improve.

If he doesn't, then we can call it a bust.

Ignored? 622 routes run by TEs this year with Ebron missing 3, Fauria missing most of the year ,Pettigrew missing one.

689 last year with Fauria healthy and Pettigrew missing just 2 games.

67 less TE routes is not much especially when you factor in the injuries in 2014.

Yes, ignored.

There is no way you watched the Lions in 2014 and didn't think we ignored the TE position. The biggest impact a TE had on our season was Jordan Thompson tipping that ball up in the air for a pick 6!

67 less TE routes run for the year. 4 per game. That is not ignored. That's injury. And that's also the oline having problems needing more TE help.

It's not about routes run.....it's about an impact on the game. Lions TE's had ZERO impact on a game last year. NONE.

ZERO

If Ebron runs another 294 routes in 2015.....but ends up with 1300 yards and 15 TD......would you say he had the exact same impact as 2014???

I bet you wouldn't.

Routes run??? What NFL team uses routes run to determine productivity?

You know you are truly digging the bottom of the barrel when you pull out the routes run statistic.

Lombardi didn't ignore it. Rookies tend to struggle getting open especially at TE. Plus tons of injurie.s

Ebron would never have 1,300 yards with 294 routes. He'll get more routes this year (350+) and be higher on the chain in reads.

You're not even arguing the point anymore.

Lions TE's had no impact in 2014.

A good part of that is talent related. A good part of that is Lombardi ignoring the position.

I expect more in 2015. But like Dubbs said......they didn't set the bar high last year.

In 2013 Kris Durham ran more routes than CJ did. (568 to 547)

Kris Durham is clearly the better WR.

The point is Lombardi didn't ignore the TE position in his game plans. Ebron can make a big impact in year 2. We went 11-5 without much TE impact. TE impact will be icing on the cake for this offense.

Of course he CAN. But the key word is he BETTER. If he doesn't, then it was a wasted pick, even more so than I already think it is. Especially after seeing basically the entire first round rookie class shine and make huge impacts for their teams. Meanwhile, we are stuck with a guy who's having footballs hit him in the facemask.

Not what I said moron.

Calvin was injured. Linehan didn't ignore Durham and Lombardi didn't ignore the TEs.

He should get better. And judging Ebron after his rookie season is beyond dumb.

You don't think Linehan ignored Durham???

Wow.....you don't watch the games, do you?

EVERYONE ignored Durham.

Stafford

Linehan

DB's

GM's

His dog.

......

No it's not dumb to judge this soon. Maybe in 1970 it was. But with the lifespan of today's player, and the immediate impact that a lot of rookies have, it's silly to not acknowledge that he stunk as a rookie and that there are some concerns about him.
